The editor has arrived!

I believe while the initial learning curve will be tough, there is a huge advantage to having an industry standard editor that has a wide base of users extending beyond the niche of train simmers. The amount of tutorials, support, etc. is plentiful. Most of the basic procedures and skills are universal, so getting up to speed quickly should be a matter of determination and persistence, rather than something that is overly secretive or complex that has poor documentation and support.

Another set of video tutorials is Unreal Engine 4 Tutorial for Beginners. There's the choice of one mammoth 4 1/2 hour video covering around 40 different steps or you can watch a playlist covering each of the steps individually. I started watching the latter but I'm getting fed up with the adverts at the start and end of each video so I think I'll look at the continuous one instead.

The chap presenting it is using 4.15 ( latest available UE4 engine is 4.20 I believe) which is handy since DTG is currently using 4.16 so there isn't the problem of being shown features that don't currently exist. Check the description below the video for links to each of the videos as well as links to UK & US books. Sadly these will require cash.

As far as I can tell, the editor has not "arrived", it's just on the way. The posts above (those which stick to the topic, that is) suggest that the learning curve will be rather steep, but I'm looking forward to being able to try it -- just to make scenarios, however.

You ain't just whistling Dixie. Looking to convert all my terrain textures but going to have to go deeper than that.

My wang files will work for the diffuse textures, but the other 2 types? I have to learn to make my own.

I just want to make scenarios also. I am done repainting things. I am done building routes in RW and don't want to use the new editor for TSW. I am tired of trying to learn new software every couple of years. At this time I will stick with Trainz for all my route building and scenarios/sessions. Trainz is way more fun for me in all the aspects. TRS19 makes it all look better. If that screen shot was for creating scenarios in TSW, I doubt I will even go there. Reminds me of the first time I opened up Photoshop, a blank screen with a bunch of tools and options that I had no idea what they did or how to use them. I want to be able to relax and have fun when I am creating something, just like all the tombstones I have made. Only pressure I have there is time on the job.

The best thing I felt is a general compatibility.
Export 3d shape as fbx hence no need to Google around RW plug-ins for 3DS Max or Blender, as both can export fbx.
No use of ACE and DDS for textures.

I think and I know I will be criticized again but I think it's a good thing for DTG viability to go with their 64 bit TS2019 so we can continue to enjoy the huge amount of everything already out there and continuing to be developed for TS.
