It's definitely very demanding on the system and so it should be given how beautiful it looks. I am getting around 30FPS with everything mostly maxed out using my Acer Predator 34 inch monitor. Was planning on purchasing a 1080ti for my flight sims anyway.....

Of course it should continue to be sold, as there'll be many who find enough value in the game as-is and are happy to wait for improvements. But I'd like to experience the game at its best from day one, so I opted for a refund.

It's great to see DTG finally move to a new game engine, which prompted me to return from a four year hiatus and buy the TS2017 Pioneers Edition in support of that move. But when I bought TSW expecting it'd be much better optimised than the beta (and I wasn't the only one), it was deja vu all over again. Was reminded of the countless hours spent investigating TS's underperformance in the past.

Look forward to re-purchasing TSW if/when the issues are sorted.

I realize all the issues with TSW and they are valid. However, I bought MSTS the day it was released and it was ten times more buggy than TSW. In fact, it wouldn't run on most computers until a large update was finally released. DTG is much more responsive than Microsoft ever was and I believe they will be able to repair the bugs in due time.

So, my advice and example is to keep TSW and report the bugs as you find them. Also, let's please keep this forum civil and positive. Bashing DTG will not accomplish anything good. We've worked well together to make TS2016 a great sim and I think TSW has the potential to go even farther.

And that's all I have to say about that...

Well said Harry.
A lot of these "Puppy's" on this forum never played MSTS. It was a complete mess when offered to the public. On top of that, Micro-Soft completely ignored complaints and suggestions and basically handed it over to the public to fix. Do you remember the front coupler of most locomotives did not work for up to a year or two proceeding to crash the game to desktop? I'm sure DTG is keeping an eye on this forum for feed-back and suggestions. All the arm chair experts who must let us all constantly know how much they know about railroading is getting old. We all have experiences in subjects that we all specialize in.
We get it.

Games are only pulled from sale when they are absolutely broken.
TSW runs on the majority of systems, though many international players were/are having control issues, me included. DTG are working on a hofix, but the issue seems to persist and is perhaps related to UE4 and Windows?

To me, it isn't clear yet what DTG really wants with TSW: a train driving game for the casual XBox player, or a transportation simulator for railroad enthusiasts.
I doubt the typical XBox gamer will invest $$$$ (hundreds) in routes and trains. Railroad enthusiast will, and many of them want to create stuff.

So despite my initial disappointment and anger I have decided I'll give TSW a chance, and so far I have fun exploring, finding errors and hopefully helping out in making TSW a success.

There is still much work to do for DTG, even when they decide to make TSW into a game.

Some issues that might even bother the casual gamer:
Elastic brake hoses that are reeled in from high above?
Scripted stuff that disappears and reappears at random?

Sorting the performance issues should be addressed first, then simulation, physics and operational issues next to give the game a solid foundation. Only then should additional DLC be published. But I feel the need for cash makes it necessary to issue a steady stream of DLC that will inherit all the unresolved issues ....

There are a number of updates planned, the various updates and fixes are staggered due to what is involved and the amount of testing and process they need to go through.
Keep an eye on the facebook/website page for more info.
Some good updates coming.

In the meantime, please report back your findings.

cheers

Good evening,

One feature I'd like to see removed is the lineside fencing that exists all along the route.
This is a feature of UK railways, by law, but not US railroads, and lets the route down in my eyes.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

I was thinking that maybe on Sandpatch they did have fences. I have seen them on US railroads in the movies though. Emperor of the North has fences out in farm country which I assumed were placed there by the farmers not the railroad. I studied that movie while making the NERR route. But for the most part we do not use fences.

The funny thing about these particular fences is you cannot jump them. In Cumberland, you cannot wander outside the yard, along the main you cannot cross the fences on foot.

After an emergency brake application I left the locomotive and started putting the handbrakes on. After I while I was offered to relinquish the train, and it left without me, leaving me stranded on the right of way.
I took the opportunity to try and wander around a little, but apparently I was tied to the tracks, not being able to wander more than 30 feet from them.

The right of way is nicely scenicked, and with some wind blowing, it looked quite convincing. Birds crying, trees creaking, water streaming, an aeroplane, a buzzing transformer in a lineside hut .....

Then suddenly a train went by, for it was one of those timetables scenarios.

I even found a hard hat, placed a placard, repaired a marker and got several miles on foot to my credit. Also, it was the first time I got a green fps indicator, no trains for miles.

Does Steam save these achievements in my profile, so I can continue on another computer?

This is from the DTG support site:

Player Profile
If you have played extensively in the U1TB version, here's how to backup and move your game profile, so you won't lose any progress when reverting back to the main game....

1. Go to My Documents in Explorer

2. Find: My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\SaveGames - this folder is the only destination that profle data is saved in.

3. Copy the files within this folder to a brand new folder on your PC, for example, on the desktop.

4. Load Steam and swap back to the main Train Sim World game experience (right click on the game in your library, choose Properties, select the BETAS tab, go back to NONE.)

5. Go back to My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\SaveGames - which should now be empty. Copy the desktop folder files back into this folder.

6. Load TSW and you should have your progress stored and available.

The same process should work if you want to have a consistent profile across computers. Saving and restoring from OneDrive, other cloud storage providers are available, has been suggested.

Sand Patch doesn't have fences on the whole route.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
