TSW Beta 9 first impressions?

I get between 10-25 fps on a GTX 1070... *!rolleyes!* At those frame rates it's hard to actually tell what the game is like.

Why I am better than that with a GTX 1060, playing Ultra and TAA?

Yes. We fill the forums with frame rate figures and we don´t know if our neighbor could be using a 4K monitor or an i3 instead of an i7 (though it has been mentioned in the known issues that the CPU cores usage is far from optimization).
In DTG forum there are numbers of about 60 fps (high fps) for the GTX 1070.

Anybody who says they are getting 60 FPS on this thing is full of you know what. Even Matt said he couldn't get anywhere near that.

Probably a different cpu. I've got a FX8350.

Oddly, I changed the setting to ultra and TAA and my frames increased 5-10 depending on where I was.

Goodness, you all should join the discussion over at TrainSim.com, those guys would basically agree with everything you are talking about. And no, even if you hooked it up to a supercomputer it would not get 60 FPS because the physics don't know how to use more than one thread, and can't even use one thread well. They are slow and slow down the entire game with them.

There isn't anything to see other than what you have already seen from DTG.

I have posted only a couple shots here. But I have a good collection in my Steam profile screenshots if someone would like to look at them. Some are with the fps displayed.

Did any of you read this in the known issues thread.

"CPU Bound
There are a large number of physics calculations going on all the time and this, combined with a wide array of extra detail means that the game spends considerable time limited by CPU performance. Owning a machine that has a CPU with more raw GHz per core will greatly assist as the game does not make optimal use of multi-core CPUs as yet (though it is fundamentally multi-core). We will be expanding how the game utilises multiple cores and optimising how it uses those cores as an ongoing process to help improve frame rates across the board."

Yes.
The CPU is not optimized as for core usage.
But the GPU is far from optimization as well.

Yes, and that's a fundamental problem if they can't seriously optimize the game as planned.

Raw processor GHz per core has barely improved in the last few CPU generations. Intel is up against the limits of what current technology can do and Moore's Law is no longer holding. Raw processor GHz ARENT going to get substantially better anytime soon barring unexpected technological breakthroughs.

There's still room to improve GPUs, but even those will run up against similar limits soon. That's why Intel are concentrating more on efficiency (performance per watt) and additional cores.

I've been watching videos on YouTube from a guy with an i7 6700 running at 4.0 ghz and a 1080. He's running the sim at high settings, and getting mostly 40 FPS. It does drop when trains pass, etc. My i5 (no multi-core) runs at 4.3 and I have a 970. I'm hoping optimization will make the sim run well on my rig. I won't be upgrading just for this sim, although I very much like what I see and would love to run it. I'd be quite happy with steady 30's FPS.

Found the end of the track. !*roll-laugh*!

The good news is that the roadbed is in place for most of the way. Didn't really check that much further down.

I've been debating between upgrading to a i5 6600k or a i7 6700k, it will be interesting to see if/how this game uses hyper threading
