News on Tools?

I've got to believe it's possible to add an asset into a compiled game without having to go through a low level game editor. I was reading through some Unity forum posts, and it sounds like it's a matter of creating an empty object in the game editor along with some scripting code. Once the game is compiled, the asset can be added by the user through the UI. And I believe there are multi-player 2D shoot-em-up games where users can create and import their own assets.

So I think it's possible, but either DTG hasn't worked out the necessary tools yet, or they don't have the desire to develop the necessary tools. Either way, TSW is a non-starter for me until those tools are in place.

This is as far as I got with my experimentations.

Perhaps we could pool our individual knowledge. There has got to be a way to get these things into the game that we have not thought of yet.

Ian and JerryC.. Wow guys! Beautiful models **!!bow!!**

Been searching the steam forums and I often find DTG`s representative Jay is trying his best to keep the posters from ripping the forums apart. There are a lot of speculations and bad press over there, fully understandable in my opinion, considering DTG`s communication over the years. With that said I do believe the tools are being worked on considering how many times "Jay" mentions this in his replies. One of his many replies ( regarding the tools ) to a random user on the steam forums:

First id have to buy the new game. I havent bought it sheerly on the fact I cant edit it in any way shape or form. But if we can make some inroads id be inclined to become familiar with it. I will release my latest model for TS2018 and then turn my attention fully to see if there is a way to integrate our models into the game.

Those models are absolutely beautiful. Keep up the good work. Unlike, most people, who seem to have an axe to grind against DTG, I believe that they will eventually come out with the editors. I, personally hate the shortness of the routes so far, and, hope that they will at least extend them at an later date. I was also told that, whereas in Train Simulator, making one route mile takes one day, in Train Sim World, that one mile take one week. I also think that thier developing team is working within the time constraints of Train Similator, for Train Sim World. So, I guess that for the time being, the shortness of routes will continue. Neverless, I like the Sim so far, bugs and all.

Grinding a axe? I don't think so. Just like you people are all entitled to their opinions. Anyone familiar with route building will tell you there is no rule of thumb when it comes to how much you can do in a day or a week. If you are out in a area with very few assets and the same textures you can just fly along doing several miles a day. If you are in a dense town or city you can spend weeks on a mile or two. I'm sure that's somewhat true on either sim. Whether it takes a lot longer in TSW who knows at this point.

Truth to Power! 20-30 hours gets you 1/2 mile by 1 mile on a good week of route building. You want long ... not a problem 70 miles - 4 years - 8000 hours.

TSW - I have been sitting back quietly for the past year - Route Buildings Tools? Its not looking good. Not good at all...

Not exactly accurate Miner. NERW was 2 years, 2400 man hours for 50 miles, however I had 3 helpers. Lafayette as released is longer than 50 and took 2 years with a maniac on scenery named Buzz and 3 other guys. Either way it is a long time working to completion.
