3.5 and lowered grapics

3.5 and lowered grapics

I have to join the ranks of complainers after this patch. If you look closely at the track beds in cumberland yd.they are now a flat plane with a pasted on gravel texture, whereas in previous builds they were 3 dimensional gravel.Reducing graphics quality is not optimization. It really looks awful. The one thing this had going for it was the eyecandy. DTG is throwing that away because of a few on steam forums who like at least 60 FPS all the time.I and many others were OK with less FPS because it ran smoothly.I may as well buy run 8

On my PC the track beds were a flat texture in Cumberland since the launch version.

Dont give up on DTG just yet plovdiv21. They are working on it, releasing patches every Friday for us to test. Sure sure, I know what many are saying ( not pointing at you *!!wink!!* ) , we as customers should not have to test anything, it was rushed and all that. My review of DTG was no love story either.. But still, I really think they are trying their best to come up with solutions to make this sim run better. Heck, they better as Im sure they have invested quite a bit to make TSW materialize in the first place.

Giving feedback is the most important thing we as "not yet happy" customers can give. And this is where I think a lot of the community fails. At least you gave your feedback plovdiv21, and that`s a good thing, !!*ok*!! What about all the other users/lurkers who roam these forums? DTG releases patches and asks for feedback, but only a few of us actually post our experience with the new "fixes"..

What else is there on the train simulator horizon? Lets help DTG to at least try and fix TSW before abandoning it. I might sound like a fanboi, maybe I am after thousands of hours running DTG current sim. In my opinion its too early to give up on TSW.

Yep Bob looks like run8 aint so bad now. Would be nice to have a run8 forum in here since you do cover FSX and such. !*don-know!* I do know that Unreal is really not made for simulation but is made for shooters and the like. !!**sorry**!!

Sorry no Run8 forums going here. There are other ones out there, no sense duplicating it, not to mention there is not much interest in it here that I know of. It seems to only be a reference for something TSW or TS2017 doesn't have or is not as good as. Much like a lot of people compared Railworks to MSTS, that didn't last too long. Then to top it off, Run8 should have it's own forum by it's creators. Like other products have.

They used to but the dev(s) didn't like hearing people's criticisms in their own home so they got rid of it.

last i saw the 3d ballast was still there but i am away for a few days with family so can not check. graphics settings and optimisation are still being tweaked, nothing should be removed. However if you have found a bug please let DTG know.
The software is in a good place, but we have much more planned.

best regards

Yeah I got banned from that forum by my 4th post on there along with the countless others that were banned there too for largely the same reasons !*not-ok*!

I have not gotten time to play TSW that much cuz I've been crazy busy the last few weeks. I got the Miami, New Jersey and Feather River routes for TS2017 recently during the Steam sale and haven't barely touched them yet either. I do plan on giving TSW a good run on Easter weekend and then I'm off to Tehachapi Pass again for more filming for my YouTube channel if the weather is decent. I'll download the 3.5 update then.

With my brief times with the sim, I only have a few complaints. The sounds of the engines leaves a lot to be desired (sigh...Why can't they still get this right? **!!bang!!** ). I miss the panning trackside camera view. The Xbox controller isn't as functional in TSW as it is in TS2017. I can't pan the camera with the sticks and instead must use the mouse to do so. They also swapped the throttle and brake trigger/bumper button assignments where the throttle is now assigned to the right trigger and brakes on the left one. I'm sure there are couple other things but these were the ones that came to mind first.

Overall though it's a pretty decent sim. Hopefully they listen and fix everything eventually. I must give DTG some major kudos for the flurry of patches it's been releasing. They have never been attentive to this degree in the past to fixing things. Keep up the good work! !!*ok*!!
