Windows 10 1709 update and TS2017

Unread postby Claude350 » Mon Oct 16, 2017 8:24 pm

My system was updated version 1709 for Windows 10, 64pro and now TS2017 crashes during startup. Has anyone here experienced this and if so what did you do to rectify the issue. I had to roll back to 1703 to play the sim.

I have 1703 on a desktop and just updated on Monday without issues. Are you on the insiders program? There was an earlier issue with that release?

Yes I'm on the insider program. I was able to run the sim in the safe mode.

Hopefully as last time a patch will be available in the next week. Is the insiders program worth the headaches?

It's been pretty good so far. This is the first time I've had an issue with an update and TS2017. I wish I knew what the issue was since it ran in safe mode. I have no idea where to start looking because the dump file isn't readable.

Can you go to railworks.exe in the railworks folder and under properties run as administrator?

If you have any WS scenarios a corrupt one can cause this issue.

If it was a corrupted file I do not think running it in safe mode would make a difference. Your thoughts?

Reports of last update of NVIDIA drivers causing issues. Recommended to use the "clean Install" method.

I'm not a fully accredited geek however running in safe mode does allow windows to jump over corrupted files that normally would cause a freeze or a crash. It also doesn't load a bunch of drivers that might be causing the problem.

I just found this after the last Windows update. UAC (user account settings) was reset to high by default.

I reinstalled the 1709 update and installed the Adobe Flash Player per a fix I saw on You Tube. I'm up and running now.
