Recover splash screens?

The TS2017 installation brought with it a new initial, main menu splash screen, but the TS2016 splash screen still showed up after I selected anything from that main menu. Last week, that older splash screen vanished and I now just see a plain grey background with the Train Simulator logo (?) in tones of grey. This is certainly not any great loss, but is there a simple way to display the opening logo behind all the menu screens?

In the folder \Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend there should be a file called background.jpg. The default size is 1920x1080. You can use any screenshot, like the one attached for example:

Did you get this update on Friday which fixed a startup screen issue.

TS2017 58.6a Update Available Now
14 OCTOBER - DTG_JAMES
In response to your important feedback, today we have released an update to Train Simulator 2017 to address issues with the UI and Steam Workshop.

Here’s a list of what has been addressed:
Fixed an issue that caused the TS2016 image to flash up on loading TS2017
Fixed an issue with the display or Russian special characters
Fixed an issue with Spanish translation
Fixed an issue that would cause TS2017 to stop responding if a player has more than 50 items in their Workshop when uploading content to Steam Workshop
The TS2017 58.6a update will download automatically from Steam. If you have any problems/queries with regard to the update, leave a comment below or submit a ticket to our support site where our Support Team will be ready to assist.

The TS2017 58.6a update will be approximately 25 MB in size.

Thanks! I used one of my screenshots from the VNHRR route as well. Looks fine.

Yes I did get that update -- and it may be exactly what caused my problem; but it's "fixed" now, with one of my own screenshots.

Tom
In my case that latest update (58.6a) to TS 2017 resulted in me having same non-screen as you did!
background.jpg was missing from the . . .\frontend folder although the .md5 checksum file was there!
I resolved it too with one of my own pics.

Peter, I had a md5 file as well -- I just didn't know what it was. I'm happier with my own shot. Perhaps someone could come up with a way to display random images from the screenshot file?
