I haven't seen anything that would indicate we needed to own some particular package, just Sherman Hill, so why are some people mentioning certain packs like we might need them?

Yes or one of the TS2016 compilations with SH. If you got it with TS2013 but didn't buy TS2016 then you won't get them automatically.

And what about people that bought it in 2012 when the route came out?

From my understanding it is free to everyone who owns Sherman Hill. Just read on the Steam forums that DTG have a problem with people getting the GTEL at the moment and are fixing it.

Did you know that DTG have a support page here http://dovetailgames.kayako.com/ where you can ask your questions like where is my GTEL instead of moaning on the forums. I use them a lot and always get a reply. Sometimes it is not TS related, like for example that their support page didn't display correctly in IE11, which they sorted out.

Actually I read the email I got from DTG. Buy TS2017 and If you have Sherman Hill you get the GTEL and the SD60M.

EDITED. The bonus comes with the Pioneer edition purchase.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding this subject. So if I purchased the route back in 2013 I am out of luck, ie: no free content?
DTG needs to be clear, they really opened a can of worms with this one. !**conf**!

The only reason that there is a lot of confusion is because people haven't, won't or can't read the words.

Well...
Everyone but the original purchasers actually got it included with their version of Train Simulator, Sherman Hill or American Power Haul, and yet I'm not getting the download. (I'm an original owner)
At this point in time, I would think most people got it with their purchases anyways. That's why I'm confused by the wording. They seem to say in some of the statements, that those that would already own it, are getting it, and that makes no sense...

The below is directly from the fellows at DTG:

"Everyone who purchased the Sherman Hill route, received it in TS2016 or a previous core edition version of TS and the Independence Collection, all receive the GTEL, Military Flat Cars, Insulated Box Car and SD60M as a free update. No other version, standalone or single route edition receives the free update due to the inability to add this content to those particular versions in the Steam backend. Should anyone who owns a version that is not a compatible version of Sherman Hill can contact our support team who will happily provide everyone with steam keys to redeem this content."

Someone should merge the 2 threads on this topic.

I purchased Sherman Hill when it came out so I didn't receive the automatic download. I contacted DTG support this morning and got an email six hours later with the codes. Now where do I enter the codes to get the freebies?

Open up Steam (double click the steam icon on desktop or where ever)
Bottom left of window is 'Add a Game', click it then click on 'activate a product on steam', click 'next', 'I agree' and put your code in the Product code box.

cheers

I want to THANK!!!! all of you guys on this site for all the insight and help in dealing with the intricacies of TS and Steam/DTG. I was in a quandary about getting these "free' downloads too. I want to also thank Derek and Truvelo for the info above. I sent a ticket to DTG last night and this morning when I woke up I had my codes for the Turbine,Boxcar, Flatcar and the SD60M( which I already had). There was a code for a scenario too. Following Derek's instructions I activated them and they now show up in my DLC.
Again, I want to THANK everyone on this forum for all the help I have gotten over the years with TS. *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

Are you willing to give the SD60M code to someone that doesn't have it? I have the SD60M.
