DTM original EMD GP30 and Alco FA?

Unread postby Unoriginal » Mon Sep 11, 2023 10:59 am

I'm really just curious about whatever happened to these? I remember seeing them in a lot of older screenshots and them having a lot of colorful roadnames for each loco, and I know these were hosted on his original blogspot site (along with the first version of the DDA40X) before he moved to steam. Maybe someone can ask DTM if these can be released as freeware now? or something if anyone has them. All I really want to see is if people have these and can send pictures of the included roadnames for each.

When he would be effectively competing with his present offers why would he want to do that? I don't have the old 'original' GP30 just the newer ones but here's a bunch of shots of the FA1.

I believe the new haven one is the original Springfield line (but still could be here anyway), I think that NYC/EL hybrid thing isn't from that pack.

I guess just for the liveries? I just brought that up since something like that has happened before. All I wanted to do is just see what came with them.

Now for someone to show the GP30s!

There were re-paints done on the original as well as the later offerings. I just clicked on everything that was in the file.

The Alco FA came with the VNHRR Springfield route before it was sold on Steam. You'll get it if you can get your hands on the route.

Hi,

That's the old Trains & Drivers version you're referring to and that is no longer available anywhere. Back when we updated to version 3 of the route (the Hartford - New Haven extension that went on Steam), we removed the FAs for the very reason Buzz mentioned above, to avoid competing with the new FA model which was being built around that time if I remember correctly.

I have done repaints of new DTM FA (the PRR DLC on Steam) in all four NH liveries and they're available here in the file library if anybody is feeling NH Alco withdrawal (a very common affliction as I understand).

By the way, as far as I can remember, the FA got a completely new model and mapping for the re-release on Steam, so any repaints done for the original (Blogspot) models are highly likely incompatible with the newer version.

Cheers,
Michael

Much of the old equipment was lost in a hard drive issue I have been told when I made two separate inquiries over the years, one regarding the old high hood GP30, as we were regularly running one at that point, so I was desiring to have a Southern one in Train Sim therefore. This was a few years back, I more recently inquired about the SD45T-2 (which is still for sale as many know) and a possible additional variant, and was again regrettably reminded of its finalised source model files being damaged/lost in the drive failure. I would still love that high hood GP30 even though we now do not operate the real one, it being in need of some work recently (post-2020), which was done, and then other issues were discovered.

I hope this may shed some further information.

Yes, the SD45T-2 is still for sale on steam.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if gary somehow got DTM to rework his GP30 into a high hood southern and plop it into his southern pack. The GP30 felt like one of his better models and it would be kinda something new for one of those retro/classic/expansion packs.

Those look okay, especially for being as old as they are.
If you don't mind, could you post pictures of the other ones as well? I remember there being ones for conrail, soo line, santa fe and many others.

Those models might be from way earlier. He put them up for sale I think around 2008 or 2009 and took them down along with his blogspot around 2011 or 2012.

Well laddie the files inside the model are dated 2015 and I didn't even have the sim in 2008 or 2009.

I don't know until when the first FA pack was available, but if I remember correctly, that it might have even come out back when our sim was still called Rail Simuator. (Boy, have we really been playing this title for so long?) I think the FA was the second or maybe third model after the Warbonnet F7 (which you can still find in the file library here).

Cheers,
Michael

I've had Railworks long enough to have the original files for GP30 & FA1. 4-5 years ago I PM him on FB and asked if he ever planed to release them again. He said the computer the files were one went belly up and he lost those files. Thus the newer files.
