How come the trucks on the U.P. and Santa Fe stuff always look white instead of silver?

Bleached paint? Or paint covered in silicate dust from the sand applied to increase traction?

Will this be an update to the DTM SD45 that is currently available on Steam, or will this be a new model? Either way looks awesome. Can't wait to see all the repaints the community comes up with.
