Why not put them on Steam Marketplace...

Since he said "...put on sale..." its pretty safe to think they would be payware.

Probably because half the time DTG takes forever to release 3rd party stuff and also because of the screwy license with BNSF.

Yea, scenarios to Marias Pass or Stevens Pass.
DTG takes a long time to release a product. Thus in TAD will be faster and easier for everyone.
We have over ten repaints ready to release.
This does not say anything important

The BN F45 and BN GP20 are unaffected by the BNSF license.

As the reskins use a product on Steam will the repaints work on the Steam Workshop, and have roadname specific features?

That makes sense, but on the other hand products released by TAD rather than DTG cannot be used in Steam Workshop scenarios. Seems like there's always a trade-off.

The locomotive cannot be swapped with RW_Tools even? When you can change career into standard scenarios, the same might be possible for workshop scenarios. Otherwise one could clone the scenario first.

What I find interesting is that this DTM release is not via Steam. If it is sold by Steam many more people can obtain it.

Does this require the UP GP50 or is it standalone?

Steam has a wider audience, but also takes a greater cut. Not going through DTG and Steam probably means issues over licensing can be circumvented.
So DTM might have struck a better deal with TaD.

These are repaints, no doubt the base model will be needed.

I also brought this up because Steam marketplace repaints do not require coping the geo file. Even if the repaints are payware it is still necessary to copy the shape files. Will it feature autonumbering and quick drive consists using stock from the BN SD40-2, GP38-2, and F45 packs? (Also BN wagon pack01 in marketplace)

From what I know there are no license-issues with the BN F45 and GP20 as they are found on international steam-stores outside the USA.

Oops! I should have written that a scenario using the TAD product will not be eligible for uploading to Steam Workshop. Yes, in most cases rolling stock swaps can be made to a downloaded workshop scenario using RW_Tools, but the original scenario, using the TDA-made engine, will not be eligible for Steam Workshop uploading.

Pretty sure their going through TAD because DTG has really shown little to no interest in releasing repaints via the workshop (regardless of their creator). As the OPs and creators have stated DTG has had months to get these out but haven't (and probably have no intention to at this point). I'd rather have a chance to buy these products and have to copy a few files and use RW_tools to swap out some rolling stock in scenarios. DTG had their chance and blew it, I'm glad DTM is looking other places to sell their products, well atleast these repaints.

I am interested to know what is that TAD-engine (repaint) used to make scenarios. If it installs in the same location as the parent locomotive that is on the Steam store (The DTM UP GP50 in this case) the product should be able to work in the Steam Workshop. Many British players wrote workshop scenarios that make use of third-party reskins, but it is interesting why not many American scenario writers have scenarios that use repaints of American vehicles.

Not all assets from marketplace are stored in the same folder as the original... for example, the CSX GEVO and '70MAC repaints....
