And I've read that there aren't any new sounds which, is disappointing but unsurprising at this point. To be fair, I'd imagine it's no small feat to source accurate, clean F3 sounds.

The boxcar and cabeese are neat. But this is definitely a pass for me, unless there's a steep sale.

The better sounds are out there. Are you not aware of them?

Are they? Do you have a link? Is there maybe a demo video?

First of all, glad to see that the conversation here is civilized and friendly and that those who voice criticism do it in a fair and friendly manner! Which I always believed would go without saying, but apparently not so having witnessed the ranting and raving that some individuals at the DTG forums were displaying earlier. !!bang!! **!!bang!!**

Personally, I very much like those new F3s. The model looks great, I love the customizable features like the snow plow (among many others), and of course they come with the wonderful Smokebox brakes. And the number of included liveries is just amazing -- perfect for creating scenarios with realistic looking consists.

I'll also hold my hand up and say that I was involved with the testing, but the trucks didn't catch my attention. You won't believe how easy it is to miss stuff like that, even (or maybe especially?) if you're looking at parts that you know in and out and have looked at countless times. !!det!!

Cheers,
Michael

I'm sad to report that this thread had to be censored to sound this civilized although I still think calling something a piece of crap is not real civilized but then I am old and came from a time where being polite was considered a good thing and you only lashed out when someone else started it but then times change and not always for the better. As a re-painter I know how easy it is to miss something. My beta testers are regularly pointing out something and since I always try to find more than one sometimes one will spot something and the other will not. As I said earlier it must be nice to be perfect as some in the hobby seem to think they are anyway. How people can get so crazed as some about something they are not forced into escapes me. Again probably their parents were their pal instead of being a parent but then enough with the amateur analysis.

In that case, Buzz, my heartfelt THANK YOU to you -- and also all the other selfless members of the admin team -- for keeping the house clean. I totally agree that politeness and manners are in a sadly short supply these days and I'm quite disgusted that those comments have been allowed in DTG's own forums. It's one thing to crititicize something or even just say one doesn't like something, but those comments in the DTG forum went far beyond (or rather, below) that and were just utter spite and vitriol. !*don-know!*

Holy crap what an improvement. DTM should hire that guy - it's a shame they don't come with those modifications. *!greengrin!*

Still hoping there's an update to fix the trucks. It's an easy one. Maybe we can task GreatNortherner with it as punishment for overlooking it! :P

He stated last night that a fix would be sent to DTG for the strap. In any event as far as the sound it's fixed so all is well that ends well.

The work from the countless Rail Works developers is much appreciated. Take a moment to remember all the great assets.

I'd also like to thank Buzz and RWA (and GreatNortherner, for the spot-on comments). What has been ongoing since last Thursday at the DTL forum goes beyond the policy rote "Everyone can have their opinion." Only if one defines "opinion" as including insults, vulgarity, character and product assassination, occasional profanity, and individuals purposely hijacking conversations and shouting down others with multiple and repetitive hostile posts, does such a policy apply.

Not from everyone, there have been some voices of reason that have been trying to be heard (and as a result have also been at the receiving end of the insane fanatics).

In fairness that was only one or two people, I'm sure the majority of people in that thread (including myself) were trying to keep things civil.

Unfortunately, in a totally un-moderated environment as apparently exists at the site in question, it only takes one or two people to turn a conversation into "animal house." And such was (is) the case in this instance, as within a matter of hours the main culprit posted no less than 10 times, many of which were extremely long, repetitive, and exceptionally crass, up to and including vulgarity and profanity.
