Until November 1st you can get 30% off on Trains and Drivers various locos, wagon packs, scenarios, routes, etc.

http://www.trains-and-drivers.net/

That said, I already have the EMD GP50 Union Pacific and SD50 D&RGW locomotives by DigitalTrainModel from Steam? The TaD website says the versions they sell of those two are the same as those on Steam. So I'm wondering if the other four GP50's that are priced less are just reskins or is there a loco included. And if so is there something unique about each loco or is it the same as those in the GP50 package? Please advise.

The DRGW SD50, and UP GP50 sold on TaD have to be sold at the same retail price as the Steam versions so they are not undercutting the steam offering. I read that is part of how DTG is able to sell them elsewhere.

The other GP50 units (BN, BN Tiger, BNSF, ATSF) are standalone locomotives, and do not require any other assets to work.

^ If the DRGW SD50 and UP GP50 are bought via TaD will users get a SteamKey, as many users may want them on their Steam Library and utilize them fully on Workshop.

I suggest you ask T&D that question.

I bought all four of the available GP50 repaints in the current sale. They do seem to come with a loco but that's hard for me to prove since I already had the DTM GP50 and SD50 sold via Dovetail.

First one I drove was the Burlington Northern. Ran a nice shunting scenaria they included but about a mile from the end I was sitting face to face with another train. After a couple minutes I coupled up with it and started pushing him backwards so I could finish but after about a minute of that the game declared a derailment. I thought I had read somewhere that that had been fixed but it must have been something else. Nice loco otherwise.

The Burlington Northern Tiger nose is a nice version as well. Also includes the orange/white striped nose version.

The ATSF “Freightbonnet” scheme is nice but the loco horn has issues. The horn is delayed from when you hit the spacebar and it only has a long blast. Nothing short so forget about proper road crossing warnings. And there are a lot of crossings on the Cajon Pass route.

The last one was the BNSF (with logos). A nice loco and paint job here.

Good dynamics in all of these. Fast acceleration with little or no load and you definitely know it when pulling a load. Braking is an issue under load but dynamic braking properly used made all the difference.

Would be nice if they fixed the standoff situation at the end of the scenario in the BN package because I don't see any other way to complete it and the horn in the ATSF package. If I can figure out how to swap if with another I will. The scenarios are well done (with the one exception found so far) with lots of traffic to deal with and are a real bonus in the packages.

!*cheers*! !!*ok*!!

And no, you don't get Steam keys with these but when I read about these before purchasing I found that that has been discussed at endless length in the past.

@fsafranek - I ran into the same issue with that scenario standoff. I've released several scenarios for these locos in the file library here though if you are interested. (Shameless plug)

in which scenario do you talking about standoff?

I ran Monroe flawlessly from end to end
But for Winton scenario I never had stop event triggered as completed in one place (I ran 3 times with the same result). So I opened Scenario Editor, and edited stop marker westward of Winton, to make stop area as big as possible.

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have both the BN Tiger Stripe and the CNW GP50. I have a couple of small issues I'd like to pass on.

On both these units when dynamic braking, you hear them inside the cab but not outside. I know I should stay in the cab, but sometimes I like to hang my head out of the window, steam engineer style!

Also, on the CNW unit, the horn sound is very long and slow to start. That's not a big deal but there's no way to make a short blast on the horn.

Like I said, these are not big issues, I'm enjoying these locomotives very much. I just thought you'd like to know.
