Saving multiple quickdrives, then resuming any one of them

Unread postby hallgee » Sat Aug 20, 2016 12:12 pm

Sorry if this seems basic, but I have been through a lot of iterations here, and the question does not seem answered for TS 2016.

When I start a quickdrive scenario, I will F2 'save" it, then exit. I cannot find out where this "saved" quick drive is after I close it. When I start another quickdrive scenario, save it and exit, the resume button only applies to that last quickdrive--the first one is apparenly lost.

How can I save multiple quickdrives, access them and resume them where I left off?

Thanks!

You can't. When you start a quick drive scenario, it creates a temporary standard scenario called Quick Drive Scenario regardless of what route or rolling stock. That is available to resume as long as you do not create another quick drive or close TS2016 completely. In either case the temporary file is deleted. I have worked for 2 years to make one of those files permanent and have not succeeded.

Thanks Overshoe. I was afraid of that, even though it seems like such an obvious thing. Is there anything you do for a workaround, like cloning/building a free or standard scenario based on a route? Been trying that, largely unsuccessful so far.

Found a workaround:

To run multiple saves routes in quick drive (TS 2016)

Create quick drive scenario, drive it, save it, exit. Find the most recent quick drive route (go to build/scenario/route/quick drive, scenario you just created should be under it's route and called "quick drive scenario") and open it in explorer. Alternatively, you can just look for the most recent "currentsave" under the route's directory. Save directory contents to another directory, preferably one named after the scenario. When you create another quick drive scenario, save and exit, and do the same thing for it.

Now, to return to an earlier quick drive scenario, copy the contents of a saved route directory, and paste it over the most recent contents of the quick drive folder. When you go to resume in quick drive, it should resume the route you just pasted into the quick drive folder.

Messy, but it appears to work.

Much the same option as is used in RW_Tools where you can save standard scenarios, rename the 'CurrentSave' file and save it. RW_Tools then gives you the option to restart any of the named 'saves'.

Thanks! Will try that in RW_tools. Hoping they put the option to save in QuickDrive someday, though.
