I was laying sped ribbon. Tried out my latest change and the program crashed. Restarted and found that all of the track was missing. Not a rail remained. Restarted and same. Updated cache and received 1300+ files however no track appeared. Other routes ok.I had high hopes but....Using the Industrial Route.

Hi,

That sounds like the game crashed right during the moment when it attempted to save either the tracks.bin file (the database containing most of the track network information) or the track world tiles. To check, locate your route in the Content\Routes folder and see if you can load the tracks.bin file or any of the tile .bin files with RW_Tools. If you can't open them that would indicate corrupted files. In that case I doubt that there is a way to repair this, other than going back to an older backup of the route.

A few general hints when working with tracks in RW
- save often, especially when placing or changing signals
- avoid using the editor's "undo" tool if possible
- avoid using copy/paste with track-related items if possible
- when you see "invisible track" sections appear in your normal track lofts at/near switches, stop the presses and exit/restart the editor or even the whole game
- create backups frequently, ideally after every editing session (my recommendation: set the "--enable-backups" flag in the RW Steam launch options, which will save a backup of all changed files every time you save your route or scenario)

Cheers
Michael

in addition to what Michael said if you delete any track save before adding any more track
