Scroll down to find the guide "How To Make A Reskin For TS2016" apparently by someone from DTG or a" connected "developer.He gives a list of programs needed and dismisses RW_tools by saying;

"Many other tutorials would now suggest to download a program called RWTools. This software costs after 21 uses, and is therefore not very useful for those who make a large amount of reskins, such as myself"

What BS!This can only be deliberate misinformation designed to keep the audience ignorant of the fact there are more resources than just Steam and DTG.The small amount (2 dollars)asked to buy RW_Tools is a drop in the bucket for people who can spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars for DLC.He suggests using the serz program inTS 20xx instead which is much more complicated to use and does not mention all the other things RW_Tools can do.I really feel sorry for people who can't see beyond Steam for games.Sorry, just had to vent over this when I read it.

Par for the course. An off-shore model maker who uses programs other than 3DS Max is embraced, while American model makers that do such are called amatuers.

I will admit I was not convinced at first of the worth of RW_Tools. But it is now indispensible, and is so much more than just a repaint tool.

Have you posted this on the other forums, especially, the UKTS one, it looks like the person writing this tutorial is British, I'm sure many people would like to read what he has written about Mike Simpson's utility tool.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

What in the hell? $2.00 is barely charging for the tool. I don't do repaints, and I find the tool indispensable for the game. The guy is incredibly ill-informed.

He is entitled to his opinion, although anybody who is acting as an authority on a subject should respect tools they don't use themselves and the methods of others

This is nothing new. A while ago I received an email from DTG (or whatever it was called then) in reply to a support request telling me not to use RW_Tools. The following is a direct quote from that email.

There is a very good reason why we to not support RW_Tools, now you know why you should not use them.
RW_TOOLS despite what you may read elsewhere is not recommended and has no connection with rail simulator, over a period of time it will cause severe problems.
The trouble is that people who do not know any better will simply not believe it, we have a word for those people. can you guess what it is?
The same also applies to RW_Tools.

And what word is that I wonder...
I have to admit, I don't use RW_Tools as much as I used to, but I don't create content.
It's good for doing things with Workshop scenarios, that the core game won't let a person do normally.
I didn't think they Dissed Mike's tools exactly, just suggested another way to do it.
I am curious as to what problems exactly, RW_Tools is supposed to create. I don't like it when I hear something causes trouble, without an example or two.

This is silly. We all who use it know it is a valuable tool and whomever says differently is just uninformed or agenda driven. Enough.
