Just so everyone doesn't get all wild the statement says in 2016 UE4 version will be offered. TS2016 will be released in September this year and will NOT be UE4.

That's a very short time frame for an entirely new game.

Their fishing Simulator based on the Unreal Engine 4 has been out for quite some time hence the short time frame.

Sick or slick?

Sick is a more aggressive version of slick...

Ah, "lost in translation" ... I'm still progressing from "cool" and "groovy" !DUH!

That's ok mrennie, we all have our ways of saying cool, "sick" is one of them. I'd have to say they have outdone themselves with the teaser trailer! As for the Unreal4 engine release date, I've seen Mario and other famous characters reimagined utilizing the engine! If Unreal4 can make Mario realistic, just imagine what the trains of TS2017 would look like.

That's a very impressive snow storm (train simulator meets weather simulator?), but I still don't see any snow accumulating on the rolling stock. Hasn't Dick Cowan managed that with a snowplow model?

Since the trailer here is clearly not made with the current TSX engine, could it be possible that the trailer is made with UE4 and that the "next-gen" train simulator will look something like this? :D

No, it was a pre-rendered video.

Darn, I don't have an Xbox. Hopefully my PC will be able to handle the new engine.

Speaking of which, is the UE4 upgrade free, or is it an entirely new product? Most likely not...

Nobody knows but I would probably say not. Like a series of games you had to buy each version. Far Cry to Far Cry 4 you had to pay for each version. TS20XX will be running alongside the Unreal version on Steam.

From DTGs FB page.
We are pleased to announce that we have formed a partnership with Microsoft to bring a number of our future releases to Windows 10 and Xbox One.

Dovetail Games Fishing and the new Train Simulator will also be seen first on console on Xbox One, via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program

In addition to Dovetail Games Fishing, we plan to bring two of our next generation products to the platform; the next iteration in the Train Simulator series, which is due in 2016 and will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and Dovetail Games Flight Simulator, built on the foundations of Microsoft’s award-winning Flight technology.

Having finally seen the video promoting the upcoming 2016 for the US market, I believe DTG should receive a citation for excessive use of artistic licence. It is a bit like a commercial for your local burger chain - what is advertised bares very little resemblance to what eventually hits your plate. yes there will be turbines and yes they will be yellow; after that, who knows.

Interesting to read about the British component to this version; a veritable time machine of a route - the Riviera Line. A buffet of locomotives (there are 5 mentioned) and rollingstock (as route releases should always have been). Do you think we can look forward to re-worked 4000's & 3900's. Hardly. Here we are 5 weeks out and all we ahve seen is a turbine on SH with hi-vis vests as far as the eye can see *!sad!*

Riviera Line of the era already exists on DPSimulation under the name Glorious Devon. I'm not a fan of having Sherman Hill included in this release as it was in TS2013.
