When you apply do not tell them your a train nut. You won't get the job.
lol, I'm in the process of becoming a conductor. The course actually begins in May, and I have stuck to this idea closely. I actually asked the instructor 2 years ago (therefore he doesn't remember me from then) what their take on train fans are. "Well, are you a foamer?" was his response, "if so, then I would suggest not coming, simply because foamers like to challenge the instructors." This is actually what he said to me. It's pretty crazy. For gosh sake, you aren't there to test your knowledge, your there to learn how to be in a profession. Obviously the instructor, who is in his 60's, has been working on the railroad since he was 15 - he is going to know a lot more than you. You're just there to make this your career.
Anyway, getting back on topic, I have only 92 hours on record, but really, all I ever do is mod the dang thing. I have pretty much only spent my time testing out my sounds. Though lately, I have been building a small route (to test sounds and route building skills) and completed my first 4 scenarios (yup, first 4).
