Graphics software required?

Unread postby HankySpanky » Thu Oct 17, 2013 6:43 pm

Hi everyone,

I would like to make a small MOW train. I have the NE MOW loco, a caboose, a flat car with rails loaded, a gondola, and a couple of ballast hoppers. I need a crane car (preferably old and weathered) but the only thing I can find is the Flatcar 30ft - MJ Crane, which would be fine, but the boom is up.

Is there a way to graphically rearrange the boom so it lays more flat, as to lay just over the gondola, without having to buy expensive graphics software? Is that even possible? Would the gondola and the crane car need to be one unit? Any ideas?

*!rolleyes!*

Unless there is a way to lower the boom within the game, no. A lot of graphical software would be needed. !*don-know!*

I've usually found that RSC is expert at lowering the boom within the game! *!!wink!!*

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll need to get 3DC and start taking PX's lessons.

I highly recommend them along with mrennies steam loco guide.
I've only been using 3dc for a couple of weeks on and off and I already have a model that looks like it should and a lot of the basic functions are second nature already.
It's also very addictive once you get started !!*ok*!!

To answer you original question: it is possible if the boom is a child object to the crane.
You have to open the crane's .geopcdx file in RW_Tools and try to figue it out.
If so, then you can apply a rotation matrix to the boom.
