hey I was wondering dose anyone play attion on fuel consumtion in this game for realisum. like for exsample between es44ac vs dash9 I think dash9 would consum fuel faster in real life. but dose it happen in ts2014?

Would be interesting, guess I never really paid that much attention. But if I was to hazard a guess, I'd say it's not modeled well, if at all. RSC can't seem to get braking or acceleration right half the time. !**duh*!!

I'm gonna guess they don't take individual locomotive model fuel consumption rates into account. And to be honest, we have no reason to refuel in this sim unless a scenario is written to require it. These engines with a full tank will easily go from end to end on even the longest routes. Maybe if you were in free roam and went back and forth over an entire route many times by continuing and saving the same session over time without a refuel. THEN you might run out of fuel.

These are some older, real world locomotive consumption rates.....

FACT:
A coal train moving uphill at 11mph with 4 SD40-2 locos on the point and a 2 loco helper shoving on the rear has a fuel efficiency of about 48 feet per gallon.

And SD40 Horsepower & Efficiency by Throttle Position.....

http://www.alkrug.vcn.com/rrfacts/fuelSD40.htm

Just to give you an idea of how long these locomotives can run on a full tank of fuel. I took an SD40-2 with it's largest fuel tank option ....4,000 U.S. gallons. In run 8 (full throttle) it consumes 167.7 gallons per hour. It would take the locomotive almost 24hrs (23.85 hours) at full throttle before it ran out of fuel. !*drool*!
EMD 2-strokes rule! My all time favorite: SD45X also love the SD40-2/SD40T-2/SD45-2/SD45T-2/DD35A/DDA40X/SD70ACe/SD80ACe

Off topic, but the USS Iowa got 800 gallons to the mile of diesel #2. !*hp*! She carried 2.6 million gallons and could stay at sea 32 days without refuel (not at full speed tho)

OK back to your regularly scheduled Topic. !*salute*!

Plus its got BIG guns! I love big guns!

Now back to topic, a real loco can go several days non stop without refueling so right now in RW its not practical to model this unless in the stated scenario above. The only time this will become important is when we eventually get multiplayer and assuming its set up something like run8 where its a constant server and locos can be on the route for ages at a time only then will it be effective to have this factored into the game. I am fairly shure right now its just set up as a rough estimate for the general type of loco's fuel consumption.

Most "heritage" i.e. 1960's UK diesel traction had relatively small fuel tanks and a range of around 450 - 600 miles depending on type. Some were later modified with twin fuel tanks for longer range, which gave a Class 47/8 a range of around 800 miles and a modded Class 37 around 1500 miles. During my career as a controller I spent some time covering the traction desks (before BR got all broken up and privatised, now I work for Network Rail!) and particular attention had to be given to how much fuel a loco had left especially when swapping things around to recover from failures or to meet maintenance pre-assignments etc.

ah ok. well I made mission on route and first train I use was bnsf es44dc mix from marias pass and I set the fual level to 30% witch is 1500 gallons. and route is 90 miles. and once I got to end of line the fual level was down to 1322 gallons. so now I using same mix train but switch engines with dash 9 and 2 sd40-2. now fual level at 30% is 1440 gallons.
