Are the older routes worth getting?

I was wondering what you guys think about the older routes offered by RSC and if you think they're worth getting still even though they don't support the new features such as TSX and other improvements in 2013. The routes in question are; Portland Terminal, Ohio Steel 2, Fort Kent to Eagle lake, Colton & Northern, and Rascal cottonwood. I'm in no way complaining about RSC's prices, but wouldn't you think they would drop the prices down on older DLC that is not up to date? Looking forward to hear what you guys think about these routes and if you think any of them are still worth picking up.

I found it silly that London to faversham cost less than Colton & northern. Remember, almost all of the routes you named weren't made by RSC. In fact I think Ohio steel 2 is the only one on that list that was made by RSC. G-Trax made Portland Terminal, and Rich Garber made the rest.

I really like Portland Terminal, Ohio Steel 2, and Fort Kent to Eagle Lake. Highly recommend them especially if you can get them on sale.

There is no reason why the older routes will not run just as well as the newer ones. They do on my machine so what is the problem?

Colten & Northern and Rascal Cotton wood are only good for their assets, they are not must have routes. IMHO. The other routes you listed are all real good. Ohio Steel 2 is a FPS killer though.

I like all the routes you listed. Portland Terminal is a must. And all of Rich Garber's (All Aboard Rails) routes are great. Yeah, they can be frame rate killers because of so much cool scenery and assets. Ohio Steel 2 is mostly shunting. Rich designed it like, as he puts it, "a day in the life of an engineer". Loads of scenerios!

I like them all.
The scenarios included with Colton Northern and Rascal Cottonwood need to be slightly modified because they have many "stop at" instructions that are annoying, you just need to replace the 0 MPH speed with 1 MPH and you're good to go.
I recently played all Colton scenarios after swapping the default engine with the RS11 from VR and it was great playing.
From time to time you'll get a strange graphic effect in the sky dome, when that happens I just save and restart the game.
Both these routes were built with a model railroad-like track plan, but it doesn't look like it from the ground. Rich did a great job.

Portand Terminal is a favorite of mine and there are lots of scenarios for it.
I recently got Ohio Steel and have just begun playing its scenarios, so far so good.
Fort Kent to Eagle Lake is also great. Lots of scenarios.

Of course I'm biased because I like road switching and short hauls.

Ohio Steel and Fort Kent are great and two of my favorite routes. They are even better when you swap the default SD40s in the included scenarios with your own locos.

Colton & Northern and Rascal & Cottonwood are a bit dated now and I wouldn't recommend them.

I really enjoy all three of these routes. They are still very good and worth the money. I really like that Ohio Steel comes with 30 scenarios and Fort Kent comes with 20 I believe. If you aren't a scenario builder yourself then they give lots of bang for the buck.

I find the Colten and Northern and Rascal Cottenwood not as good primarily due to the fact I don't like that they are designed like a model railroad. They are still good and have lots of scenarios.

I really like Ohio Steel, and Ohio Steel 2, along with Fort Kent to Eagle Lake for the same reasons as most above have stated- lots of interesting scenarios and well made scenery. I will say I've spent more hours using those routes than I have using Donner Pass or NEC. Well worth it especially if you can get them on the Steam Sales.

Personally, I would rank Portland Terminal in my top 5 routes to drive I think. It's brilliantly conceived and very well executed and has masses of opportunities for switching and short haul operations. I think it was updated to included TS2013 lighting effects too.

I recently purchased Ohio Steel 2 during the summer sale and I am really enjoying the route and the scenarios. I would recommend it with out a doubt.
