Swapping Trains to buy

Now I took a look at the big boy V2, don't know how it is. I was thinking of buying 2 pack challenger and Big Boy. But come to think of it idk if I am getting the challenger. Seems to me the v1 headlight does work but can't see at night i'm okay with that. The big boy v2? idk how that is at night. When you use the headlight does it light up at night? I might swap out the challenger for the BN sd40-2. I haven't seen alot of v2 for a while since it came out.
