BB and Challenger Whistles

Just wanna say thank you to Brian (b737lvr) Meyers for stealing my bigboy whistle !*roll-laugh*!. Least he did a better job than I did. I tried my best but using Sony Vegas to split up the sounds, not the best choice I can make. Few made a complaint that weren't loud enough, some said it stutters between loop and end. Eh I tried my best. Wish there was a good program to use and a better tutorial other than using realplayer. I'm making another whistle for the Gtrax 4449, nkp and another one can't remember the name.

The Big Boy, Challenger, and SP GS-4 all had the same whistle, a Hancock/Maxwell, Manning, and Moore 3chime long bell. Why does each engine need its own whistle, and why do they sound so radically different?
