You might be able to if the route start points are at the same location, otherwise forget it.
Cheers!

You can't. They have different starting points like Hack told you. They both have to start at the same lat and lon, and thats kind of impossible.

They can't. Thats why you can't merge two routes. That is what we are trying to tell you.

My theory. You have 1 route starting at point A and another at point B. If you took route A and added the blank space to it to reach the other route's location, then change the starting point of route A, you would be able to merge them together as then route A and B would have the same starting location. Half or more of the route A would be blank. The half that is blank is where route B would merge in. The new starting spot would be route B's starting point.

Of course I have no idea if this will work or how much effort it would be to put all the blank area in for merging. To me it sounds like it would work though.

I don't quite understand why you don't just jump out of the one route and then into the next one but maybe your attention span is linger than mine.

We already spoke about this when Donner Pass first came out. The idea back then was to link my route which ends in Roseville to DP, and then to the Reno Sparks route that was being made by someone here. It would tie together because Roseville and Reno are natural places which you could do a crew change, and thus change routes in RW.

Claudio Mussa, who is a member here, has a program from his site called "RW Merge Route".
Almost to the bottom of his front page you will see the link.

Its free to try, he is just asking for a donation. !!*ok*!!

His method still requires that both routes have the same starting point.

To explain why the route's can't be merged. Each route has a starting point when the author first sets it up. All of the tiles in the route are based on this lat/long with the tile +000000+000000.bin having this lat/long as its bottom left hand corner.

All other tiles are offset from this point, and all scenery items/tracks etc within a tile are offsets from the bottom left of each tile. Unlike MSTS, nothing is placed using the actual lat/long of the object.

Therefore the 2 routes you are trying to merge have completely different offsets within the tiles, and while it might be theoretically possible to calculate the changes in offsets required to merge the 2 routes, the fact that the earth is not flat and that the lines of longitude are not parallel makes it a virtually impossible task.
