TS2013 Small Update on Mon. 3rd

Unread postby XDriver » Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:07 pm

A heads up.
Copied this from RSC on facebook.

On Monday Evening (3rd) we will be updating your copy of Train Simulator 2013. The update includes over 90 small additions, fixes and improvements to the software. It is not a particularly large update in memory terms - around 30MB.
If you are making content, make sure you have backed up before the upgrade starts. Backup Assets and Content - All Users
If you're using Windows 64 bit and have Steam / Train Simulator installed in the default locations, back up the entire content of these folders to a safe place

Well, I'm fed up now, I only purchased some more content last week on Steam's Autumn sale and did a full verify cache, that took an hour and a half, a defrag of my system's hard drive, got some more content installed, cloned my Sherman Hil route and now......I've got to do it all over again, because of a minor update that'll squeeze onto my computer the next time I go online, hmphhhhhhh. **!!bang!!**

Oh, please. Don't we all care about money? I sure as heck do. Seems to me RSC is trying their damnest to fix this sim. Heck, this update could include Donner! Just give it a chance, do the backup as suggested (I have a second hard drive that is just for doing a full Windows/ Steam/ RW backup) If you are really scared, go into offline mode and wait. You won't get the update until you go online again. *!!wink!!*

Looking at the positive side of things, I'm pleased that RSC is committed to continually improving their products. The flip side of having small fixes disrupt our routine is a company that abandons their product with little or no further development. I'll take the small inconvenience of the backups to get the updates. I'm stoked for the Donner update coming soon too. !!*ok*!!

The update is only 30MB. Donner will not be updated until the 20th of this month. This is just a fix for the core software.

i had some issues with 2013 when it first came out, but seriously we complain that RSC offers no support to the hard core users but in reality the hard core users especially over at UKTS figure things out relatively quickly, and RW Tools within a short time was able to fix the issues i had which was issues with my route properties file which is not RSC's fault but mine
seriously if you are that P'Oed at RSC go play something else, i look forward to the update and am glad they are updating, and will be prepared for any issue.

the back up statement is RSC's way of CYA

As said above. Just don't go online for a few days. Wait an read about the results of the update from others. That's how I do it.
Also I see it this way. Updates from RSC are mostly good and benefit the people that do not mod or add 3rd party content etc. etc. which is the major majority. Those of us that mod the game, (like me included), RSC's fix's break our fix's so we have every right to worry about updates. Anymore I don't care that much. Just have a good backup and deal with it. This new 30meg update I probably won't even see any difference. Bring it on. *!lol!* I'll fix your fix again....
