It would really be nice if RSC released DLC rolling stock packs....

Hello all, I'm "new" here. Lurked for awhile and now I'm posting.

I appreciate the hard work within the RailSim/RaiWorks community that provides us custom content (routes, scenery, locomotives, rolling stock etc.) and scenarios. With that said, coming from MSTS, I'd have to say I've been spoiled by the 11 years worth of custom content provided by people in that community. Reading some of the posts here, it seems that creating and distributing custom content is becoming an issue. I don't know if this is just for the PayWare developers or if both PayWare and FreeWare are affected. If RSC is going to slowly close the sim and choke the life out of the community, they may as well fill the void by providing us with more rolling stock/locomotives/repaints and scenarios, particularly North American items. I'd actually pay good money for regularly released rolling stock DLC if it was realistic (not every car should be factory/paint shop fresh), encompassed a variety of rolling stock types, and contained enough content for the cost.

I actually prefer RW over MSTS (well, I still can't make hide nor hair of the scenario editor), but in my opinion, this sim won't continue to thrive unless RSC opens up the game to make content creation easier for developers or provide content of their own. I can only pull strings of generic hoppers for so long. *!lol!*

This video should give you a small sample of the wealth of DLC available... a huge amount of which is available in the File Library.

The basics to start; hoppers, tanks, boxcars of all tops, gons etc. I looked at the video provided by bwfer and compared it to what I saw in the file library here and Train-Sim.com but obviously I didn't look well enough. Looks like I might need to download some more DLC for some of the engine and rolling stock reskins. I'm going to look through the library again and see what I can find. Thank you both. *!!thnx!!*

Let us know if you see anything from the screen shots that you can't find in the data bases. With all the dust up there are plenty of places to find particular things that may not be posted. As I said before there is a ton of stuff out there for RW. IMHO there is just about anything you would want except for ........another diesel, another steamer, some other car. Some other era. That's what makes this so much fun.

Visit the 'Fleet' pages here: http://vnerrforums.com/nerw/ and you get a wealth of rolling stock and a great route to run it on. Most of it is also available here at RWA.

This site has a wealth of re-paints/re-skins with lots of weathered/graffitied stock by Jessie James:

Much of the above video came from this site.

Have tried Mike Simpson's RW_Tools? I find it indispensable for editing and working with scenarios ie swapping rolling stock and motive power in consists and check for missing assets. For a small donation it will pay for itself many, many times over in saved time, effort, and frustration! You can download it from his site and try it out (it will open 20 times).
