RWA Railroads

Unread postby SabreRZR » Thu Oct 11, 2012 11:27 am

Hello folks, the other day while I surfed through some old threads, there was one in which somebody mentioned about having a fictional RWA railroad route, with custom painted (a little bit of blue, white and red) locos, just in honor of this great site. And here it is, the birth of 'RWA Railroads' logo.

Its still in trial stage. Lemme know if you wanna see any edits to the current one and/or add an american eagle and/or something that represents the unity and globalization of this site, whatever you can think of, just let your fantasy control your thoughts this one time. *!greengrin!*

Looks great. In the word "railroad" An idea would be to try and show some white in the center of
the letters ( R-A-R-A-S). It always reads better is this style, since it shows in the letters "O-D".
Also, a drop shade never hurts.
Keep up the great work. !!*ok*!!

I think artimrj and his team picked up that route after it was forgotten. Perhaps he will chime in.

If that was the RWA community route, yes I am using the dem for another route. The 3 Rivers route. Track is laid out mostly and about 15% scenery done. Have not been at it in a while with all the others thngs I got going on. There are several of us working it.

Well I got track all over the place. At this point it is like 3 shortlines the way I laid it all out. It is actually quite a large area. The north line runs from one end to the other following the river. The middle line makes a triangle from the east to the point then around the point and back to the east. The southern line follows the river on the other side. It takes about 1:20 to go from end to end. Top speed is 55 and the way some of the curves are it drop sto 40 in some places. Have some nice grades in it but the highest is 2.3%. It is going to be a fun route and like the NERW, there will be plenty to do as it is fictional and I can do whatever I want. Lots of bridges, industries and stations. Attempting to set up a commuter type service. The way the hill sides are, I won't have to go too far from the tracks with scenery as you can't see over the hill tops unless your in an airplane. Most everything is down in the river valley. Really nice DEM.

Bob,
Interesting.... Can make great possibilities for scenarios.

I would drop the "RAILROADS" and leave just the initials and the curved icon. Colors are great, but the railroads wording clutters up an otherwise outstanding design.
Cheers!

Thank you guys !!howdy!!
Will do exactly what you guys have mentioned. Also, as this logo would be used on the locos, I think something bolder is required which can be seen from a distance as well and some font colors that would stand out on the darkest colored loco to the brightest ones, something universal. Must cook up something new.

!*cheers*!

Any chance I could get it the way it is now with out the railroads part. The 3 rivers route I am making for the RWA would be a nice place for that logo. Since I am using the RWA old community route project DEM I still am making it for RWA. I really am partial to the earth tones you have in it now. Then you can make something for the engines however you like it.

Sure, here you go. The other two are italicized and the first one of 'em comes with enhanced colors. Choose whichever you see fit. !*salute*!
Also, if you can help me with a basic image layout of the whole route with important places mapped, like we see in the 2D map mode, I can try and make a fitting route splash screen to match the route's aww factor (if I can say that *!greengrin!* ).
