Amtrak tries to avoid running active diesel locomotives into Penn Station whenever possible. So this can create some fun operational situations. One of them is Amtrak 66 and 67. Due to catenary work overnight, the train would run with a Genesis behind an AEM-7 with the AEM-7 controlling the Genesis when the AEM-7 couldn't draw power. So I decided to replicate this in Railworks. The AEM-7 can control the genesis just fine when the pantograph is down, even the cruise control works fine. It's sluggish, and I topped out at 100 hauling the default "Keystone" consist in the Spirit of Transportation free roam, but it works! However, when I flip it, and stick the Genesis in front and turn off the motor it can't control the AEM-7.
Not really sure this is a problem necessarily, but I thought I'd share the fun I had with them today.
