read you were working on some u Boats.. I dont know if you found this page or not, but i thought i'd post it here.. good pics, and each one is a link to a uboat page.. I'm a bit confused though.. I'm finding High nose U-28bs, snub nosed U-28bs, and u-28bs that almost look like sd-40s. I found a chinese ND5 and DF5 which i'm going to repaint into RI.. Theyre both definately U boats, but which ones i'm not that positive about..

You should take a peek at my blog. I have started a U30B and planned on making a U28B and U25B. The "snub nose" 28 you are refering to is a U25B which was upgraded.

That link has some great pictures. I don't think I can count how many have I looked at in the months of research I have done, an that was just body work. I know there is still miles of books to find and read up on.

BTW, did you know that oovee is making a payware U25B? It will certainly blow mine out of the water (I am still an amateur at this modeling gig).

yup, I did know about em ( Oovee ) but knew you were also working on at least one.. I figured theyve got plenty of resources ( just like i have for aircraft ) and I didnt know if you did or not so thought i'd pass it along.. ::chuckles:: besides, it kept me from bashing my head against the keyboard as I screwed up yet one more engine.bin file..
One question i do have though. Did the U boats really sound like they were falling apart?? this chinese thing has great audio, but i'm almost afraid to drive it it sounds so rickety..

They sure did... you could easily tell if they were in a lashup long before they came to view. This comes from first hand observations by me in the mid/late 1960s.

The difference in sound being the the Uboats used a 4 stroke prime mover versus a 2 stroke prime mover used by EMD.

Thats amazing.. God thats an awful sound.. ::lol::.. I've been researching this thing ( Chinese ND5 ) and yeahhhh, it started life as a Uboat, or very similar to a uBoat, but they did something to it.. They gave it a nose job.. It started life as a standard C36-7 ( which looks an awful lot like a U boat ) and then was exported to china.. It ,looks like a parlor toy now.. check it out..

check out what it started out as..

I think i'ma gonna wait for Papa's and Oovees U boats... I can work on a gp-38..

It can take me 3000 hours to make a plane fly right, and my partner spent three months modeling a single landing gear.. Slow is no problem.. Long as i'm breathing, i can wait :).. Besides, Theres GP-38s, SD-40s, F-7s, E-7s, Gp7s and 9s, and a whole slew of others to stay busy with till then ;)..
