I did this with my Dash 9 too. They are very good sounds. All they need is the Machinist/Krellnut treatment. *!lol!*

That's it up_8677 !!*ok*!!

For the same reason of Brian, when I noticed past week that RSC Dash 9 default sounds were the same of RSC ES44AC default sounds (if not exactly the same is quite the same, no relevant difference) I didn't hesitate one second: Now all my Dash 9 are using the "ES44 10-Engine Sound and Lighting Pack", beyond the diversity of the 10 different sounds, and therefore far richer in details, there is no long that jet engine weird effect (with some swapping with RW Tools, of course).

Right now I have 10 different engines sounds in each Dash 9 livery (6 of them). And before someone point the finger: I don't care if is the same or not, *!twisted!* maybe in real life isn't, I guess. However, after the release of 10-Engine Sounds packs, there is no way of listening again RSC ES44, SD70 or even Dash 9 default sounds. That's enough for me. È stato detto e punto.

Cheers,
Doc.

For those used to RW Tools who wanna swap RSC Dash 9 sounds by ES44 Krellnut's sounds it's pretty easy !!det!!

Find this section in the (BNSF default, for example) Dash9.bin:
Code: Select all
                  <cEntityContainerBlueprint-sChild d:id="43674472">
                     <ChildName d:type="cDeltaString">Engine Sound</ChildName>
                     <BlueprintID>
                        <iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
                           <BlueprintSetID>
                              <iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
                                 <Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
                                 <Product d:type="cDeltaString">Dash9Pack01</Product>
                              </iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
                           </BlueprintSetID>
                           <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Dash9\Dash9 Engine Sound.xml</BlueprintID>

And then replace by these (in fact only Provider, Product and BlueprintID lines need changes):
<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">Kuju</Provider>
<Product d:type="cDeltaString">RailSimulatorUS</Product>
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\ES44 Engine Sound.xml</BlueprintID>

To avoid the jet engine sound effect and also get the diversity of different engine's sounds, for example:

Beyond Provider Kuju and Product RailSimulatorUS these following lines:

BNSF Clean Livery (Dash9_Default_Clean.bin)
Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\44-Helper Engine Sound.xml

NS livery (Dash9_NS.bin):
Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\44a-Helper Engine Sound.xml

Warbonnet livery (Dash9.bin)
Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\44b-Helper Engine Sound.xml

Warbonnet Clean livery (Dash9_Warbonnet_Clean.bin)
Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\44c-Helper Engine Sound.xml

CN livery (Dash9_CN.bin)
Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44\44d-Helper Engine Sound.xml

And yer done!

Changes by your own risk! of course.

Cheers,
Doc.

You're telling me an 11 year old sound set for a train is better than a sound set on a `freshly optimized' train that is a week old?

He's probably using my MLW FDL sounds. I personally would like to have them in RW, but I'm far too imcompetent.

Yes, MSTS sounds 100% better than Rail Works. Of course you have to remember the MSTS crowd has had the last 11 years to really tweak the engine and rolling stock sounds. The updated sounds we are getting for Rail Works from guys like Krellnut are really improving the sounds of Rail Works. Of course the only downside is, every time RSC updates something, they undo the sounds **!!bang!!**

Rich S.
