JesseJames' Repaints

Is it possible to get JesseJames' repaints-specifically the centre-beam flatcar, 4-bay hopper and lowside gondola- to work with the models that come with the SD75, instead of the SD40-2W or the NS SD40-2? I acquired the SD75 from the summer sale and have been eager to get the awesome repaints in my scenarios but I've tried a few different methods and been thus far unsuccessful. Anyone know?

Those are indeed some of the repaints in question, that was me that posted in that thread a couple of days ago and got a completely unintelligible response. I hope somebody here has a bit better of an idea of what to do

Unfortunately, and it has been a nuisance for the game as a whole since it was released, if a reskinner chooses to repaint a particular wagon, or, locomotive, then you can only use the appropriate alias model, generally a Payware one, as even though there may be more than one version of it available to the community, the shape files are not the same, especially, if they're built by different creators. I have tried to use the same reskins on different models ( boxcars, flatbeams, etc, ), but, they generally don't all work.
There is no harm in trying anything, this game is all about trial and error, folks like to experiment !*roll-laugh*! , but, don't automatically think that a reskin will work on every item, 'cos they don't. **!!bang!!**

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

As far as I know they're the exact same model, I mean, it seems silly that RSC would make a whole new centrebeam flatcar for the SD75 pack instead of just using the one that otherwise comes with the CN SD40-2W.

They may be the exact same model, but the route directories are different. In the Assets folders, the original centerbeam, 89' flats and 4 bay hopper are listed under RSDL/USWagons01. The cars that come with the SD75 are listed under RSC/SD75Pack01. JesseJames' installer is looking for the original location. Will moving the Texture files by hand work?

The problem is that sometimes the .bin files reference things such as bogies and audio in the RSDL directory. Just on a casual observation, it seems to me that the models are the same. You should be able to copy and paste the textures into the SD75 models if you edit their .bin files.

Yeah, I did try modifying the directories to make them the same as the SD75 version, that didn't work. How would I go about editing the .bin?

Are we avoiding the second question that was asked? Just who is that chickadee?

Tineye returns no results.

Please don't derail my thread.

^ Dang. I wanted to know too haha. *!!wink!!*

On topic, I found that a bit of messing about with copying and renaming textures, folders, and making unique IDs should work. Make a unique new hopper by copying the default, renaming the folder, opening the .bin file (I think that's right) with SERZ.exe or whatever that wonderful program is called I'm too cheap to buy, changing the default name to the new name and putting the new textures in the new file and renaming, that should work. I know that's all really confusing, but not if you know what you're doing.

Seems simple enough. I'll try and find a free program that can open .bin files, thanks

To edit the bin files all you need to do is use serz.exe its already in the steamapps folder. just create a short cut to your desk top open the asset file find the bin you want to edit. drag to your serz shortcut drop it will then create another file which can be opened with notepad. Edit the file then save when your done, drag it back to the shortcut and drop to change it back to a bin and you are done. its really simple or,... you could use rstools.
