DD40X power fix

Unread postby j3richard » Sun Jul 29, 2012 12:33 pm

Hi,
Is there a fix available to increase the power of the DD40x ????

I am using the "Union Pacific (UP) DD40X Enhancement V-1" but the engine even at full open can hardly get 10mph on a level grade!!!!

I tried to run the "Big Jack's Climb" scenario for Barstow to San Bernadino that came with it and the engine hasn't got enough power to get out of it's own way. I gave up when the speed got down to 8 MPH with full power on.

Thx,
Papa

Papa, in the scenario you mentioned that's a known issue: the consist is too much long and heavy, the engine doesn't get (doesn't have power enough) to pull it over a grade. It's a scenario related problem, it's not a DD40X physics issue (in fact, as any other engine of game, DD40X is overpowered).

Cheers,
Doc.

Wouldn't it be a 20 second fix for RSC to change that scenario and have multiple engines pulling that long consist ?

Or was it intentionally in order to increase the difficulty of that scenario ?

It should be easy to change on your computer.. Just open the wprld editor, check to see if the little lock ico at the bottom right is open or closed. If its close, click on it to unlock the scenario.. In the top left flyout next to the pushpin is a yellow engine front. click on it to open the scernario editor.. once in the editor select the dd40 with you mouse and holding the left mouse button down, move it forward a few engine lengths.. Select a couple more dd40s from the middle left flyout and place them in front of your consist, then drag the main dd40 back to connect with the others and your set to go..

I've deleted the back half (or 1/3) of freight vehicles with RW Tools, and it worked also.... *!!wink!!* one minute to go and easier to fix...

If you run the other 2 scenarios that came with the DD40X(B to SB "Freight to Victorville" and CR "Cement Delivery") you will find that it runs just fine on them. Right up to the max speed called for on the respective tracks.
See my fix for "Big Jack's Climb". I just think it wasn't setup right.
