Rolling Stock Questions

Unread postby Anderson » Sat Jul 21, 2012 5:35 am

(I opted to post a separate topic since this is really a separate issue)

I'm currently unable to play the GG-1 scenarios on the NEC map...for whatever reason, the passenger cars won't load. Any ideas on a workaround to get them into the map (i.e. do I need to reinstall the GG-1 pack, and if so how do I do so with Steam)?

As an unrelated question...does anybody know if there is more American passenger rolling stock, either Amtrak Viewliner/Heritage or pre-Amtrak, to be had (and if so, where I could find an orderly directions to them). As much as I hate to say it, I've spent enough time in and seen enough Amcans IRL that I'd like to be able to run some other stuff, particularly on the NEC.

Have you tried doing a search in the RWA File Library. You'll get quite a few hits using amtrak as a search term.

Hi, Anderson, *&!welcome!&*

First thing to do is verify your game files by Opening Steam, go to Library, right click on TS2012, Properties, Local Files tab, then Verify. Then when you load Railworks, before you click on Start, on the Tools and Docs tab, click on Clear Blueprint Cache.

Now, when you say passenger cars won't load, do you mean passengers won't get on the cars, or the cars themselves won't load into the game? Is this a standard scenario in RW? I don't have the NEC, so I'm not sure.

First, thanks for the warm welcome.

What's happening is that I open the scenario and an error message appears telling me that a bunch of coaches have failed to load in. It's a standard scenario that came with the GG-1 pack, yes...but I'm going to try the suggested solution and see if that fixes things.

When I put in Amtrak, the rub is that I primarily get either Amcans with new paint jobs. The only passenger cars of any sort I can dig up seem to be a CNW repaint and a Great Northern repaint (at least, amongst the TS-12 files; there's more among the Railworks 2 files, but I'm not sure if there will be issues with those interacting with my copy).

Concerning the models, I have found that RW2 models will work in RW3 no problem, except for stuff that the TSX Engine (aka "Shiny Mode") provides, like dynamic headlamps or wet windows. The only passenger cars you get are in fact Amfleet cans on the NEC and the classic passenger cars used with the F7. Not sure if the ones in the GG1 pack are simply repaints of either set or new models; a rigorous application of the Verify Files button and deleting the Blueprint Cache fix 90% of the errors that Railworks generates. The rest are bugs because the game's codebase is "chuffing massive", as they say in Britain.
