Scenario Question

Unread postby slick204 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:03 pm

I have a newbie question. I've been wanting to try some of the scenarios posted lately but several of them require the Donner Pass route. I don't mind equipment when needed or replacing things with RW Tools but I hate to buy Donner Pass when it gets mostly (all?) bad reviews. I suppose RW Tools will tell me what's missing but I don't know if there's a way to replace them like elements. Is there a way?

Thanks!

Scenarios are route dependent, so they won't run unless you have that route.

He may be talking about scenarios for other routes that state that it requires Donner Pass, possibly for the rollingstock that comes with it.

The recently added Tucker Industrial scenario for the Colton & Northern route by Blue Light in the library here is one example.

The Donner Pass requirement in the read me is for rolling stock. If you do not have the route, RW Tools can subsitute that particular rolling stock.

I don't get it. How can a scenario, created for a certain specific route, run on another route? Using RW Tools? For a lot of us, that's not an option. I do have RW Tools but have yet to figure out everything.

To answer your question. Tucker Industrail will only work if you have Rich Garbers Colton & Northern route, and yes, you are correct it cannot be subsituted with other routes. However, when you purchase route addons from RSC, they not only come with the route, but may, and often include rolling stock. In the Donner Pass; locomotives, autoracks, boxcars, and wellcars were included. If you download Tucker Industrial, the only thing required from the Donner Pass is the rolling stock, and as previously stated; that rolling stock can be subsituted with diffrent rolling stock using RW Tools. Hope that clears things up.

I guess I was a bit vague on my question! I'm not trying to run a scenario on a different route than it was designed for.
One of the scenarios I'm looking at is from Blue Light (Tennessee Pass - Monarch Mine) and it has Donner Pass as a requirement.
You have answered my question in that it's required for rolling stock and not scenery objects. Thanks!
And since you're reading this, which is the SD70 Vol. 1? On Steam, I find Volume 2, Sante Fe Edition, and a BN edition. I don't see a volume 1 or 3 (required for a different scenario). !**conf**!

OK, I just dug a little deeper in Google search and I found on Smitty's Locomotive Shed a link to SD70 Vol. 1 that goes to Steam and the SD70ACe add-on. If this is Vol. 1 I wish they would just say it! !*hp*!
