Donner pass and extension update??

Unread postby PamBrooker » Tue May 29, 2012 2:28 am

Is it worth getting?? I understand there are a lot of different interests in model and virtual railroading, so someone into switching may not find a 140 mile route to be their cup of tea, but i enjoy long runs with impossible passes and too, i love the siera's. can anyone point me towards an objective review?? Are the problems being addressed in the update the main problems bugging most people?? or is it really as bad as some of the folk on here say it is??
Thanks..
Pam ( yeahhh, new account.. Been so long since i've been able to get any free time its not funny )..

Pam did the "High Desert" route, not sure if it's in the library here or not. Pam Booker IIRC. Her e mail to me when I beta tested the routes was "urushira"

BTW, hi, Pam, nice to see you back here again! !!*ok*!! !*salute*!

Well, to be honest Hawk, i think what happened to my old account has more to do with something between my ears than it has with anything from you or the forum here.. My memory just isnt very good any more you see.. my old account could have been urushira or warchild, and the email addy could have been warchild-at-bendbroadband-dot-com or urushira-at-nerdshack-dot-com.. not sure which..
Thanks for looking into that. I was a bit too ashamed to ask..

Nice to be able to be back Chris.. Really good to see some good folk still here.. Time got to be a really rare commodity, so i havent been able to be here much, but then i got to escape airplaners for a little while this weekend, and saw that someone else had done donner pass ( which i know i'll probably never be able to finish ) and i knew there was only one place to really find out about it. :)..

Hi Rich..
Thanks for the Link.. The video seems to be busted for me about a third of the way through, but i followed the links to the railyard site.. I guess its getting mostly average ratings, which for me is fine.. Theres not one person in here that cant do a better job at making scenery than i can, so my hat's off to anyone with enough gumption to tackle that particular strip of rail. From what i did see though, they got a lot of the upper sierra stuff right. Cant blame em if theres too little snow because of game limitations, but theres a reason they have those two gigantic snow blowers up there to keep the tracks clear. And for me?? Well, i like to watch the scenery and listen to the engines. Its relaxing, and i know that by the time the train crashes at either end, i'll have been sleeping like a baby for some time before then.. :)..

I never uploaded High desert because theres a lot of stuff in there thats not public domain that others had worked hard to make.. I was pretty embarrassed by that whole thing too.. Being a developer myself ( airplanes, not trains ) i know what its like to have people use your stuff without permission so, i decided to just not upload it.. Now with RW3 2012, it looks like they changed the base mesh and theres a ton of rework to be done to the landscape anyway..
