How to get a plant to imbed itself to a mountain.

I'm trying to get the desert sage to imbed itself against the mountain so it looks like it's growing there. Not have it look like it's floating in the air. I want the bottom of the desert sage to be on the mountain verticle from the ground.

I tried the asset block and I can't get it to work.

Every time I try it it doesn't lay anything down, does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?
