Are there any other possible ways do lower the poly level in 3DC Pro?

Unread postby jpetersjr » Sun Apr 22, 2012 10:56 am

Does anyone know if there are other ways to lower the poly level in 3D Crafter Pro other then deleting the hidden faces. Been looking for other possible ways for a while now.

Is there a way to copy a selected object and reproduce it as a Crafter cloan?

Yes to both.

There are two other operations you can use. Optimize shape and Merge Triangles. The first operation will do more for you, however be careful because it will start to distort the shape as you increase the weld range. You will need to decide where the trade off is.

You can export a component (I can find a way to export a group). Right click on the component and select 'export'. Remember that you can merge components together to make a single component, which you can then export. I did this with a brake wheel I made and waned to use in another model.

Where do I find the operation Merge Triangles by the way.

How do you choose Optimise Shape and what does it do exactly.

And how do you Merge Triangles and exactly what does it do.

I know that you can merge items together, like merge windows with the wall, but that doesn't seem to decrease the poly level any, from what I can tell.

JP, I have not forgotten your question. I just haven't had time to assemble an answer. I can say that the help and popup tips in 3DC cover these tools, so you can start there. I also know that there is a thread here at RWA which gave some examples as to how each method works.

No it was a different thread, but Pete's work is top notch and it was fun to read it again.

Well, I tried. !*roll-laugh*!

I'm not sure which thread you're talking about now. !*don-know!*
