Much needed repaint for the NEC

Unread postby DAL3294 » Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:00 pm

With all of these new repaints flying around can someone please do this one:
P40DC NJ Transit
It would go perfectly with the NEC route and finally give us a real NJT engine to use on the route.
Here are some pics for reference (not mine)

Where does it run from and to? I could consider it if it fits in with my current project (The Cardinal) but if not, it would have to be 'on the list' for later.

NJ Transit typically runs on the NEC from Trenton to NY Penn Station. There are a few branch lines that converge at either Newark Penn and Secaucus.

This route map should help: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/rail/Rail_System_Map.pdf

Does this Suit? I am not sure about the main body colour so if you know a HEX or RGB Value for that, let me know. I also don't know how to mask numbers and even if I do, it means every train placed will have the same number displayed or I need to make a few more clones with unique numbers.

I think it also pulls the Atlantic City Express on the non-electrified portions.

Oh man thats a great repaint! Seeing how there are only 4 on NJT making 4 clones with different numbers may be the best option.

Those look great.

I believe the numbers are 4800 - 4803.

Of course, now this excellent loco needs some passenger stock to haul. !!*ok*!!

Updated, I found the Hand rails and the Leading edge of the Steps, also added the White Coaching running up the side of the Windows and over the roof.

As for Unit Numbers, I see 808, 820 on two that I found however, it does look like the numbers are on A4 Paper and stuck on with masking tape! So, looking at what I have added here, the numbers above the windows, is that going to be correct? Perhaps this is a plan to add the numbers to the locos or is it covering up something? There is also an image on-line with the number on the rear, same practice, A4 paper and sticky tape...

These will make a much needed upgrade to NEC scenarios. It's not ALL Amtrak, dear friends of RSC. :)

Thanks marleyman!

OK, I have made this available now; Marleyman's Genesis NJ Transit Re-skin This link will take you to an external website, well my download site.
Mainly so someone can test that it loads.

Hope it works and you have use for it. I will add it to my NEC Scenario for The Cardinal' but you can enjoy the early release for now.

The unit numbers are in fact 4800-4803. NJT had those masking tape 800-803 numbers on for a very brief period when they were delivered.

Downloaded perfectly!

I inserted them into the NEC at MetroPark station using the Superliners and the Amfleet coaches just to see what they would look like hauled by the Genesis.

Great. Thanks for that confirmation.
I will do some passenger coach reskins later, after I get The Cardinal done. So if there are any images for those, just post them here and I will keep them for later.

Not sure if these are the entire fleet but it's a start.
