Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing this Set via Steam to use on the Barstow - San Bernardino Route, i have only up to now used Freight stock on my US Routes and would like any veiws on this product as it was made by G-Trax and not RSC, i have been looking at video's of it on youtube but would like to get some feedback on here as i have also been looking at the Dash 9.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Roger.

I like them, you also get the Amtrak Superliners coaches. I am a fan of AMTRAK stuff. They look pretty good, a little moire on the grill parts though. Superliners have passenger view. The only thing is the AWS deal, you have to press Q or you go into emergency braking, then it takes about 2 minutes to release the brakes. So if you out of the cab and don't hear the alarm... Rick posted a mod for this at the G-Trax forum, you have to edit the engine file and change a value to stop it from coming on at all.
They are worth it to me. Working on an NERW scenario right now for them.

Agree with Bob, they are 100% worth it. I got them as soon as they came out. Rick at G Trax made the locomotive, our own Lord Mannu made the coaches. The detail is great. Even passenger views in the Superliner coaches. Highly recommend this add on!

I like this Loco a lot and I am making a scenario or two for the NEC using that loco right now. The cab view is immense and really gives you a feeling that you are in a Very Big Loco, which you are.

Hi Gents,
Bought the P42dc today and as you Fella's said its a very good model, the other thing is that for £11.99 [$19.0] what you get is a real bargain for the money.
Roger.

Dude. Not all of us have that trash NEC. besides, the Superliners won't fit (read that in another post somewhere here) B/SB is where this train is meant to be. OK, just my always humble opinion.

That's corrects, they don't fit. But G-Trax Lightweight Coaches do :)

G-Trax Lightweight coaches are great for any route!
Especially the fluted stainless ones, which were all over North America.

Just a point of interest, the P-40's and P42's are set up to require an AWS reset if the controls are not touched for a while (90 seconds, I believe) and you will go into Emergency if it isn't acknowledged. On the G-Trax website, along the left edge, scroll down to November 1 for the topic Hacks and Quick Fixes. If you would rather not have to deal with the AWS, he tells you how to disable it. This is the only US engine in RailWorks I am aware of that requires this although it is prototypical to have this requirement.

Hi Don,
Thanks for that, i ran my first scenario that came with the Loco ,San-Bernardino-Barstow, and enjoyed it immensely, i found that it kept you on your toes and the only time i lost it! was when i went outside to take a screenshot, mind you by hitting the letter Q on the keyboard its no problem
Cheers,
Roger.

Pretty certain they'd be prototypical on the Donner Pass route too, I think the Cali Zephyr has run over Donner Pass instead of through Feather River ever since Amtrak took it over?
