Trying to create some fiction routes in Railworks. Any tips, tricks, and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Start with terrain. For a fictional route I'd consider using some random DEM data. You can download from the USGS server (Google it). Or you could get familiar with the 'Noise' function in the editor and make some hills, decide on a start point and a destination and cut your route through it. It's alot of fun going through the process of surveying a route through a pass like the Donner party or Albert Rogers, and the results although ficticious, come out looking like they could be prototypical somewhere in America (or where ever it is you want to set your route). Well that's one suggestion. Choose a track type you like before you start ie. Scalerail and try to lay your route lineally toward your destination so that you don't struggle with linking track from different directions up. There's loads of advice to be found on this forum so keep your eyes peeled and use the search function. And don't be afraid to experiment because chances are you'll discover something new that you can contribute to the community and it'll be a pretty cool feeling when you do *!!wink!!*

In the library, under Misc, there is a TS2012_Route_Building_Guide created by Thomas (imnew) Ølmheim, I don't construct routes, so, cannot verify if it is a good read, or, not, but, as it's free to obtain, there's no harm in lookin' at it for some possible ideas and guidance.

Also, if and when you need buildings to put on a route.

I've built these and uploaded them to the file library.

I did. It's the SMM complete crossings. Every time I right click after placing the arrow thingies down, they always disappear.
