I just stumbled upon the Railworks Magazine. It is free and has lots of in interesting information for a newbee like me.

I did not find a reference to this online magazine in these forums so I thought I'd share the url:

That's a nice looking e-mag. This latest issue appears to be mostly a look at recently released stuff, I haven't looked at the others but hope they include tips on various aspects of the sim.
