Donner Pass Enhancement Package coming soon!

What is it?
The DPEP is a substantial upgrade and enhancement pack for the Donner Pass Expansion Pack. The Donner Pass has proved to be one of our most popular routes for TS2012, and since its l...aunch in November 2011 we have received a great deal of feedback from TS2012 drivers pointing out areas for improvement.

When can I get it?
Our aim is to make the Donner Pass as driveable and enjoyable as possible for everybody, and so to achieve this we are not setting a fixed release date for the DPEP. We will continue to work on the pack and when we have successfully implemented the improvements, we will make it available to all Donner Pass owners.

Where can I get it?
The DPEP will be automatically installed via Steam for all Donner Pass owners.

What will it cost?
The DPEP will be free to all Donner Pass owners.

What will it include?

Smoothing of track gradient changes and superelevated curves

Improvement of scenic asset placement including crossings, track beds and fixing tunnel glitches

Adjustment of detail levels (for example, to make signal gantries visible at lower detail settings)

Changes to AI train scheduling and other scenario elements to address scenario issues that have been reported

Improved terrain textures

Adjustments to locomotive performance and physics

… plus many more enhancements.

What won’t it include?
Some people have reported problems with certain aspects of the Donner Pass Expansion Pack which are not actually faults – they are simply realistic game features which can make your job as a driver very challenging. It will also not include any extra rolling stock or scenarios – we are working on what is already included.

It may be worth gettting DP at half price.

Great news Samwolf,

Could you take care of vegetation fogliage also? it is not in the list to be enhanced. When TS2012 came out with the lighting feature, few vegetations assets were udpated to the new TS2012 feature, I mean to be reflective (to cast shadows even during the day time and/or react to the headlights at night), to be sensitive to loco's headlights. So far is being very disappointing to play at night in all routes, in some it looks like there is no scenery object out there, or I feel like driving inside a tunnel (NEC for example). I didn't check DP yet, I bought it yesterday, but even Woodhead (the most recent route) has not enough reflective fogliage yet.

Cheers,
Doc.

I was very surprised/pleased to see RSC had posted this one their facebook page! Now the real question is how long may it be till we see this improvement, well I have waited this long for something to be said about the update, I think I can wait a few more months for the improvements!

!!**sorry**!! Doc, I'm not doing the update RSC is. I guess I should have mentioned somewhere in the thread that RSC had announced the update. *!embar*!

ROFLMAO !*roll-laugh*! due to the "we have recieved" (and none reference as being a RSC text) I thought Samwolf was one among the workmen behind the scenes fixing DP. Anyway I'll send my suggestion (again) about reflective fogliage to RSC Support.

Edited after I've read Samwolf's new post:

Hum... I'm needing a help to understand this English...

I've posted to RSC Support and recieved back an automatic e-mail with this intriguing statement:
If we do not receive a response from you in relation to this matter within 28 days we will consider it closed however please do not hesitate to contact us for further support should you require it. [bolded by me]

From me? is me, the you on the message? I sent RSC a query and now I (me, I mysef) have 28 days to send a response about my own query? Shouldn't be RSC Support to send me a response about the subject? !*don-know!* Any additional translation help would be appreciate.... *!sad!*

Did they request information about the problem you are seeing?

If not, then this is a good example of a bad support email. Pester them every 20 days. Be punctual, and remind them that they asked you to follow up on this. Make sure they understand that they (RSC) owns this problem, not you, a paying customer. Become the loudest most annoying squeaky wheel they have on their cart of "things to do".

I am not joking. This sort of thing has gone on for too long. If they want to buy bread for their table, then need to encourage us to give them our hard earned money.

Nope Papa,

Unfortunately I understood correctly then... I am the "you"....

I sent an e-mail with the quite same message I posted above, with enough information, they didn't requested any other information. !*don-know!*

I'll reiterate the suggestion each 3 weeks to keep the query alive!

Thanks,
Doc.

Doc, what did you send RSC? Your request for more reflective foliage? Or some other trouble issue. If it was the foliage request, then Papa is right, it's a really bad e mail response. Someone hit the wrong "quick reply" button. But like Doc says, just keep bugging them. I would do it (and have done it) once a week. (Can't remember if they actually fixed it or I gave up. )

Hi Chris, yep, it was my first text above about reflective foliage. The robo-reply is malfunctioning.

For a long time I didn't e-mailed to RSC Suport because I knew what would happen, it's a matter of observation what is going around for a long, long time, as Papa remarked. I've been working with consumer defense in the last 3 decades, and I'm used to notice by far the smell of thingy. But many people on here are saying... if you don't e-mail Support they won't help you... bla bla bla, but even e-mailing they don't.

Since past month I have 4 queries on the waiting list, one about the same subject: RW2 fogliage on RW3 (which, BTW, is all about lights and shadows, or not?!); and another about the mess they did with the headlights (in fact spotlight objects on locomotives) with the new game engine, and I'm going right now to re-reply the queries with numbering: this is the second time etc....

Thanks,
Doc.

is telling me that they're still not going to fix the hilariously bad physics. Maybe I'm wrong (I sure hope I am), but knowing RSC I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Yes they do. You are confusing two types of support. RSC uses the same support ticket procedure as most software producers:

1- Problems specific to you
You have a problem with the game, an error message or something, that needs specific help from RSC. Not every player has this problem. Could be faulty installation, conflict with hardware, etc. Obviously they won't help you if you don't e-mail you, and normally they will answer with some specific help, then they will say "try this and tell us if it fixes the problem. If we don't hear from you within x days, we'll consider the problem fixed and close the ticket". The ticket remains in the database and, if many players have the same problem, RSC may suspect a bug and investigate.

2- Bugs, requests for improvements
The problem is with the game itself and is common to every player. For example, RW2 foliage on RW3. They will answer with some generic thank-you note, and close the ticket. But it will remain in the database, and if enough people submit the same problem they will fix it in a future bugfix. This is what happened with Donner Pass. Again, if nobody e-mails them they will never fix the problem. But they won't fix the problem just for you, they would be foolish to do that.

This is the correct way of providing support for a game. No other process makes sense. In your case, it looks like there was a glitch in the e-mail answer, but what matters most is that your ticket was logged in the database so the process still works.

So basically now they've been paid, they're ready to slowly fix the faulty product. Not so much as a hint of apology for releasing the route prematurely and using it's customers as guinea pigs. It would be nice if aswell as fixing the route to exceptable standards, they threw something new in to make up for it.

see this is what i dont understand they come out with HSC which is awesome and well planned, then you get a huge route like donner pass and its thrown together, i can understand some issues in such a long route, is why i dont release mine till i am absolutely sure its working
