Hi All,

In a couple of months I am taking the Amtrak Cardinal from Charlottesville to Chicago. I am really looking forward to that.

I would like to drive that route in my TS2012.

Is this route, or any part of it, available for TS2012 ?

Thanks in advance for your help

"From Washington to Charlottesville, and Staunton on the line came the old midwestern limited, train number 5 on time. She was the Cincinnati train, the fastest on the line, through the valley of Virginia into Clifton Forge on time.."

The former C&O Alleghany Subdivision (Clifton Forge - Hinton) is being modelled by Tori Morgan.
You can find out all about her route here http://www.coarw.com
It is one of the best freeware routes available but not yet complete.

This, and the New River Subdivision are probably the best parts of the Cardinal's route you'll travel over.

I've been very slowly working on the C&O of Indiana line, starting in the division point of Peru. At present I've used RW Tools to create all the necessary startup items, got my DEM data in place, and started laying track in the yards at Peru. Once I get that done I'll work in both directions (toward Chi and toward Cincy).

However I'm also "learning as I go" so I've been leaving the C&O frequently to work in a "sandbox" environment I set up, perfecting my technique, such as it is. So it's going to be a while before I have much of anything to show.

Of course the Cardinal and its predecessors have not run on the C&O of Indiana since the early 1980s, so it's kind of a moot point. In fact the line is pretty much gone from Richmond, IN to northwest Indiana...

Hi All,

Finally rdy (did fresh win7 install) to install the stuff from coarw.com

BUT, already the first installation page is very confusing

Download the following two files:

Get COA_beta4.5_Assets (~400MB)
Get COA_beta4.5_Route (~75MB)

WarningWarningWarning!

This pack contains rolling stock AND locomotives! The rolling stock in this package has been modified with the scripts from RWTools, allowing the passage of animation messages to other locos throughout the train! The locomotives in this pack have modified brakes! The weights of some vehicles have also been modified to achieve more realistic action in long trains! If you do not want these modifications to possibly replace some pieces of your current stock, do NOT install this pack!

Get COA_beta4.5_RollingStockPak (~350MB)

So for starters I have to install all THREE (and not two?) files ? Or can I skip any of these three files ?

Thanks for your help

You have to install the first two.

You don't HAVE to install the rolling stock, but then of course scenarios requiring them won't work, and you will have to swap the stock using RW-Tools, which may or may not break some scenarios.
If you do install it, the warning applies to you.

Thanks for your help !

So if I want a trouble free experience I should install all THREE files ?

Trouble free scenarios for the C&O route, yes.
But it can cause trouble for other scenarios using the same rolling stock.
I can't check right now, but probably the readme has more information on what rolling stock is modified, if so then you can make a backup of it before applying the changes, this will allow you to roll back to default if needed.
