Uloading a video to You Tube

I made my first 6 min.video, and to upload to You Tube it says its going to take over 3 hrs. I saved it in wmv. format, if that's wrong which one do I use, and is it normal to take that long.

WMV is accepted by Youtube so you're fine with that. Upload times all depend on your upload speed. The slower it is, the longer it'll take. Can't really change it unless you upgrade to a higher up speed or wait for usage to drop (peak usage is around mid-afternoon into the night). IE: Uploading in the middle of the night or leave it running during the day. You can also try to compress it down to a lower file size.

Here's mine during peak usage (5:54pM EST):

With that I know it'll take around 7-10 hrs to upload a 15-20min 1080p HD video if I don't compress it down to a reasonable amount.

Thanks for the response, and how do you go about compressing the video down to a smaller size.

Some editing programs have a feature. I'm not sure Windows Movie Maker has one, if that's what you use. Personally I use Sony Movie Studio HD Platinum for editing, and a program called "Easy H264" to compress things down. It's really only ment to be used with uncompressed AVI files. Which are huge. Averaging around 100GB.

I'm sure others will post here what they use. !!*ok*!!
