stuck at a switch I cannot change

Unread postby freighttrainwebb » Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:07 am

I tried to tun the mission named Call of Duty F7 special but cannot get past the first switch as it says it is locked by a freight train?, the first 2 times I tried it I derailed at the switch, so I did it again but cannot move after changing ends.

It must be me but I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, I used to be in a forum for other games and my user name was "I Alaws need help" maybe I should start using here in these forums.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Bill,

You cannot play against an automatic junction (which doesn't have manual levers) when is locked by an AI train, in this case you will always derail. When the junction is clear the blue path (check using Map View, or keystroke "9") goes beyond the junction, if blue path is ending at the automatic junction (which doesn't have blue circle in Map View) it means you can go beyond.

Check if you are moving in the correct direction, or if exists an red signal/dwarf, or if you have arrived earlier at that point, maybe you have to wait an AI train pass before proceed. Zoom out in Map View to check if another AI train is moving toward you, and then wait untill it has passed. Other than that, e-mail the creator about the problem.

Cheers.

Edited later: I ran the scenario and it worked fine. As first instruction says, you have to change engines (called changing cabs), pressing "1" then CTRL+ "+" (or Control+"-") to ride the cab of the SD40-2 in the other end of consist. The first junction is against you (the blue path is not set to you), but it's not a problem because being an manual junction (it has lever) will change automatically when you hit it. Although you have to start and move fast, otherwise an AI Train coming from North will block the junction. A trick is: as soon you are in SD40 cab, hit "g" to change junction ahead and you will get the preference in main line. Good luck!

Thank you gentlemen for your replies, my problem is with changing ends, I thought it was just the number one and control but you said number 1 plus control and showed the plus sign plus the plus sign and in quotations.

I will give it another go and see what happens.

That's it!

To enter the cab hit "1", and wait.

After you are already in cab hit combined keys CTRL and "+" (or CTRL and "-").

I do not know how old some of you chaps are but at 81 years old my brain cramps up from time to time. I tried the above mission again but just cannot get the view to change from the engine in the front to the engine in the back, in your reply you say to hit the number one key and then control and++ are these plus signs on the key pad ?.

I can change the view from the cabs. key number one but when I press the control key nothing changed

Sorry to be a pain in the butt, I did complete the job by cheating and runningthe train backwards

It means pressing the "Ctrl" key (lower left on the keyboard), keep it pressed, then press the "+" key (the one near the "0" key on the top row), then release both.

It's like when you type a capital letter ("Shift" and another key), except you use the "Ctrl" key instead of "Shift".
