Have a question about this program of RailWorks Train Simulator 2012. I am planning to move my simulator program to another computer but I am not sure how? Yes I did make a back up copy of RailWorks Train Simulator 2012 on USB Flash Drive. I know that will not be a problem but will that be a possibility to have a problem with Steam Powered Online. I got the program, RailWorks 2 last Christmas which Steam Powered site offered special price. And now it's all update with RailWorks Train Simulator 2012. Should I try to copy/paste the whole program from USB to my desktop? Or wait till someone here in this forum have a better answer about this.

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi John, if you have Steam on your other computer all you need to do is open Steam, find the 'library', look at your games list and find Trainsimulator 2012, right clic on that and then clic 'install'. Steam will then prep files and redownload and install for you. If you have extra files, like freeware rolling stock, scenarios etc you can probably reinstall those once your base game is installed again. Hope that makes sense

John, another way to do this is to copy (or backup) the contents of your "steamapps" folder. You can use a USB "thumb" drive if the folder will fit, or use an external USB hard drive. Once you have your new PC set up with Windows installed, install the Steam client and paste that "steamapps" folder back into Steam. Now all your Steam games are ready to go, no download needed.

Personally, I have a 500Gb external USB drive that I make a weekly, incremental, backup to using the Windows Backup tool. Incremental means, once you have done the first main core backup image, each week, only the things that are new or deleted from your main Windows, are saved to the backup. Takes a while the first time, only a minute the next time. And it can save your butt, big time.
