Can anybody help in updating from RW2 to RW3

Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. I am still to upgrade my RW2 to RW3, basically because it is going to cost me $100 in prepaid wireless internet to get it done, never mind the now $30 for Horseshoe Curve. In the past I have updated an installation on my PC in the office, which, while another 50km further from the city, has stunning broadband speeds and connections, and just copied the folder and pasted it into my installation at home, where we have nothing but a 28.8 dial up connection and all has been good. The question I am asking (and I am hoping somebody may know the answer or be able to point me somewhere) is if I download a copy of .net 4 from Microsoft and installed that at home and then updated the office version, whether that is all that is needed to get this new version to run. Failing that, if I bought the boxed version from Amazon, can I install that over the RW2 version at home and will all my DLC etc be retained or does it create new file structures etc?

I am desperate for info. Am disappointed at RS themselves whom I emailed a week ago and no reply, but then I guess one user is just that, one user *!sad!*

Am looking forward to updating, there is some great new things on the horizon but I am reluctant with the cost involved and potential to be left with nothing operational.

Here's hoping...

Why can't you take your home Pc to work and hook it up to the net to update it? If you install a DVD version of RW3, it will most likely overwrite the existing install. And I can't think of anyway to just burn the RW3 update from Steam to a disk. .net 4 is a different thing. You can get the .net redistrubital from Microsoft and burn it to disk easily. In fact, there was a HUGE .net update from MS last Friday.

If you do decide to get the boxed version, it will still want to connect to Steam to authenticate and there are several small updates that are still needed. You can save the existing RW files by backing up the contents of the "steamapps" folder to another folder on your hard drive. That folder has all your Steam games and RW files, even the third party stuff.
