Sparks Reno & Environs WIP

Hi! I now see that my route will be surpassed by a RW3 version of Donner Pass. While I have not done any new work over the summer, I was intending on having a lot more work done by Christmas. While the RDC version will have trackage into Reno, my route covers the area East of Reno to Fernley, and North to Reno Junction and Chilcoot, and will remain FreeWare. The purpose of this route was to be a connector between Donner Pass and the Feather River Canyon. My problem is trying to determine if there is enough interest to keep this project going, because , if not, then I could be working on another route. Wa'do ya say??? Cheers; Chuck F. !*cheers*!

It raises an interesting question. If my route ends in Roseville Yard and yours starts in Reno, then we can we connect our routes together using RSC's Donner Pass?

Keep them both going. Not all of us have the cash in this economic climate to buy every route that RSC produces.

If these two freeware routes will connect to and extend the new Donner route, then, by all means, keep up the work! How nice to be able to run on a really extended route in such scenery!

My route is free + pay:
http://thegradecrossing.blogspot.com/se ... C%20Assets

Ricksan over at G-Trakx mentioned to me back when he released PT that he would make the assets free, but I am not sure where he is on that. If he does then I can certainly use them instead of the PT DLC.

Anyway... enough about my work (which will take a year or two to complete) I want to hear more about Sparks to Reno!

Sounds like a great arrangement for running VRR activities on. I know a couple of guys are looking to sequence scenarios on various routes across the U.S. someday.

I need to find the link somewhere around here, but apparently there is a tool which can splice route together (yes, we are talking about making monster routes).

The load times would be astronomical, but think of the scenario possibilities? And if multi-player comes out? You could literally "meet in the middle".

Thought that was where you might be heading .. you need to read Mikes post here http://ftp.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=314&t=114089 .... and then search for the stuff that Andi did , there's also some stuff that never made it to any forum . So , not likely to happen in our lifetimes .

Yup that was the tool... oh well.

My route won't be done for awhile, maybe when that happens they will have it working.

Welcome to " Club Disappointment "

Still ... better to know now than to start excited discussion .

.

ETA ... Funny thought .. if a certain company had not pulled the plug we might not be having this problem *!!wink!!* ... OR maybe some one else might read this and correct a what I perceive to be a wrongness .. in the foreseeable future *!twisted!*

I am thinking of a way to do this, but by hand. I think I understand the restriction that "that" company was worried about. The way to comply with it is to extend the existing DLC. No cloning, no coping. This means that we would bundle our extension as RWPs which would add on to an existing "official" Donner route.

We have time to work out the details (like a year or two).

Just a quick remark: My Feather River Canyon Route isn't dead, but has to step back behind another one for the moment. :D

OK, so let me get this straight. When (note I did not say IF) we finish all our respective routes, we could travel from the Bay Area, across Donner, on through to Sparks, and over the Feather River? Even if we don't physicaly connect them we could as use an idea like this, and we would have one of the longest routes in in RW ever.

I am all for continuing all of the free ware routes. Would make a nice network of routes in that area. They do not have to connect physically. As I've said before, crews do not go outside thier district. It would be nice to drive a train from the Bay Area to Roseville where another crew would take over for the trip to Reno, etc. Will be kind of like what T.D.Wolf is doing with the P&LE/CSX. When he is finished it will encompass 5 seniority districts (I believe).
