I just fired up RW3 and was greeted by a download from Steam. New version is 7.1a.
Am firing it up now, now word anywhere on what this fixes that I can find yet. Please post up if anyone sees any details.

What's broken on the SW1500? I've been using it without any problems...

I used the Lock FPS to 30 and all my stutters are gone even if the FPS drops lower. Thank you RSC, just what we needed. The counter is not bouncing around any more either, at least for me.

I agree with you !
For me, the framerate limiter is a big improvement to the use of RW3. For exemple, if when you are in the route editor for hours, it's much more confortable to have a stable framerate. I notice too that my graphic card is colder, and 30 fps is enough for me.
The only complain would be that the option must be checked each time the launcher is started.

Yeah, I wonder why this is...
But I agree, it does seem to help quite a bit.

From UKTrainsim forums this post describes how to set it up in Steam so that you don't have to click the box everytime:

No, you set it in Steam. Go to the games list. Right click on your TrainSim 2012, and click on Properties, and then the button called launch options, and then type in the line above "-FPSLimit=25" or whatever you want. I set mine for 30, and it works great, but I put in the launch options so I don't have to remember to click the box in settings everytime I start.

The properties limiting option certainly works, but its (for my system) nowhere near as smooth as the checkbox in the launcher. With 30fps checked, using TSX, and shadows off, it holds 29 fps the entire time, with no jerkiness whatsoever. A real improvement.

It should be exactly the same result whether you check the box or enter the line in command line options. As I understand it, both do the exact same thing in the game. Also, both seemed equally smooth for me (I've done it both ways).

Hmm, well, I do notice a difference (just checked again). Maybe my system just doesnt like the lower frame rate lock for some reason...? I'll try it as 30 fps in the properties window, instead of 25.

Oh, I didn't understand you entered =25 in the command line option. Yes, different limits could well affect the smoothness. People say (and again, I'm no expert) that 1/2 your refresh rate is smoother (my refresh is 60) than a random number.
