Am I going nuts?

Noticed this missing track in one of my screenshots and thought it was just me playing around too much with my cloned route.. Until I noticed it in the original.

Killed both routes (deleted), verified cache and this missing track is still there, along with all the terrain being randomly below the ballast (in the yard only).

Is everyone elses like this and it just took me this long to notice? I swear I don't remember it being like this before. Or did one of the recent updates break this?

It's probably something you just didn't notice. Portland Terminal has some of these same issues now in TS2012 as well.

Yes, a section of missing track can sneak in sometimes during route-building and can be easy for the Developer to miss. And in cases like this, the track still seems to work fine, just it's missing that part of the rail visually. I remember, after releasing my King's Arm Highway route, someone brought to my attention there was a bit of missing track like this which I had somehow missed (and the track and the route still worked fine as it was regardless).

But if it's not that, then there used to be the problem (or it could still be an issue) of ATI graphic-cards sometimes causing graphic oddities such as some bits and pieces might disappear on some objects / trains and such if the Adaptive Anti-Aliasing option was on in the graphics-control-panel.

PS: You're probably going nuts anyways. *!lol!* Join the nutty club along with me.

Going? What do you mean going?

One time I transferred the NSAND from my home computer to my laptop for on-the-go route building. When I transferred it back, all of the ScaleRail bridge decks were missing. The loft was still there, as the trains ran over the gap just fine, but the Geo (or Xsec) references had been deleted in the Tracsk.bin file. Never could figure out what happened, other than the transfer, and possibly the Radeon mobile chip on the laptop.

Metal thieves are getting more ambitious, I see!

I've had a bunch of missing lofts in the editor recently.

I've seen this before. I had this same problem after I formed a very elongated turnout.

So have I. Can be contrary to fix, sometimes having to delete every section attached to that one (can be 4 or 5 pieces in all) and rebuild to get rid of the glitch. Often the glitch will keep occuring until I find a certain series of steps in building the junction. Sometimes, that certain process includes building part of a junction, shutting down RW, then coming back to build the rest of the junction.

Alternatively, sometimes splitting the welds and adjusting the elevation/gradient of one of the tracks can make that rail reveal itself.

Nope, not crazy... I've had something similar happen to the same track, the ScaleRail bridge tracks. I didn't check out the tracks.bin file though; interesting to hear what you found there. I can't remember now for sure what I did... I think I sacrificed my work and restored a backup.

I'm noticing the terrain is wacky throughout the route. So much floating track, evan gantry posts in areas are floating.. Did this update seriously screw up the terrain everywhere? Can someone go to say.. Hamilmton station and see if all the terrain under the tracks is sunk in stretches.. 30th Street yard also.. I just want confirmation so I can report this.

I think that these issues have been there since the beginning.
Lots of floating things everywhere in the Trenton - Philly area. Maybe they rushed this last section in order to get the route ready in time? Don't know.

Let's hope for the update which should come October 13. :D

I'm curious how I never noticed this before until recently. Especially all the screw ups at Hamilton.. I redesigned that under RW2 and none of these obvious flaws were there.

this sounds like the dread "gradient bug" to me

I think it's related to the same core screw up that broke the SD70 and SW1500

I don't know if it's similar to your issues, but I have also floating tracks in Philly and Hamilton. At least, it's not extreme.

Noticed that a while back in RW2, was gonna post about it but it didn't really concern me. I thought of a backstory that the track wasn't in use anymore there so they took up a part. Been having trouble with some routes not loading at all, so a piece of visually missing track is the least of my worries.
